Is the only benefit to buying this over a kettle is basically that you don't need to pick it up to pour it?

Seems it doesn't get boiling hot like a kettle does, assuming you leave it on to keep warm?

Do not follow the 2nd picture on Amazon as you run the risk of burns and the possibility of the glass bowl shattering.

Pros: Electric so it'll heat up quick up to 208°F.

Some people have a secondary faucet that produces scolding hot water but to each their own.

My parents are going from a kettle to an electric after 60+ years so hopefully it doesn't burn the house down and if it breaks they'll go back to a kettle (they got one from a store for half this price but quality may differ greatly)

It's insulated and keeps water at any of several temps indefinitely. Kettles generally boil then turn off

I have an older 3L model that's basically the same as this one. When you fill it with water, it boils cuz I can hear the bubbling and see steam coming out of the rear vent. After that, it holds the water at the temp you chose. It's convenient cuz it's hot water on demand vs waiting for a kettle to boil each time. I use it for French Press coffee in the morning and tea bags in the evening. My kids use it for instant oatmeal and ramen. Just gotta remember to refill it.

Does anyone think this is better than the Zojirushi CV-JAC50XB 5.0 Liter VE Hybrid Water Boiler?
