Action camera, surveillance camera, DSLR, drones ... Some may offer wifi transfer but it could be slow and requires proprietary app.
Being said I would not get this one (well I did). The overheating issue is real

Man, read this a thousand time before I understood the question. SMH.

Do you always have a computer on hand to transfer? Can you plug in a dashcam to your computer, easily?

What's the point of answering when you don't read the replies?

When your phone can't directly connect to pc, or other devices. Sometimes you don't want direct connection. That's when you need a USB drive.

I do not understand your reply before doing some research. Do you always try to transfer data from your phone to SD card and then from sd card to pc?

My phone has an SD card slot, my dashcam has an SD card slot, my action camera has an SD card slot, my surveillance cameras have SD card slots...you still need more examples of why this product exists?!

Why are you so stuck with phone=SD card, there are other uses of SD cards, as provided.

Crunch Use Case - if you don't have a USB thumb drive handy but need to back up or move some data from one device to another and have an extra SD or MicroSD card laying around, plug it into this adapter for a make-shift thumb drive.
