not as cheap per lb as the balanceform deal, but you get better selection of plates - 35 and 45lb. i wonder how the rubber smell is - the balancefrom smell never went away

I've had mine for 6 months and the smell in the room is gone. It stunk up the room bad for a month or two, then tapered off. If you stick your nose up to them, they still stink though.

My Rogue HG plates are a few years old, but they don't smell at all (even with your nose up against them).

Mine smelled bad and it came greasy.
I covered the plates with some baby powder for 1-2 days. Then I rinsed it and washed it down with Dawn soap. Let it sun dry for an afternoon and the smell and grease went down significantly.

Are you talking about the cap plates or the balance form plates?

I have the colored balancefrom plates and I haven't noticed any smell.

If you use a proper degreaser like Kurd kutter it takes the smell away. The smell is from the oil they use.

Does anyone know the difference between these in quality over the balance from? The balance from is $300 for 370lbs. same weight plates.

The 370 appears to be but not the other 2. I got the 260 and it's a good set unless you really want the 55lb plates.

Guy on YouTube did a review that included all the different "classes" of branded weights.

As I recall, CAP is a better brand than BF in general. BalanceFrom uses cheaper rubber "nuggets" and glue so there's more variance in weight between plates of the same size (one might be 44.6lbs and another might be 43.8lbs) and they tend to be wider so you can fit fewer on a bar.

Can anyone recommend a good storage rack for these? The number of plates and their size makes me think a lot of the generic ones won't fit things well.

$0.70 per # is amazing for a decent brand like CAP. You are miles away from even the next step up in metal plates (not bumpers). $1.00 on used market or $1.50 on sale, new: $2.00 or more.

I picked up this ethos rolling bumper plate rack, shipped free from dicks sporting goods for $70 a few months back. looks like it's still on sale at that price. full size 55lb plates fit on every post.
