I have to back him up. If you like the taste of hydrogen peroxide, it's delicious.Be careful with these though- I used to use the one with baking soda and peroxide, mixed with a Sonicare toothbrush— a couple years and many thousands of dollars later, this regimen had destroyed the enamel of my teeth, causing demineralization and gum line carries. Basically it literally ate away my teeth... the mechanical vibrating action on the teeth, mixed with basically an abrasive compound (baking soda)... it was essentially like using grit with an angle grinder to buff layers of rust or paint off a surface. Then finish that off with the peroxide to the exposed new surface, like an acid bath to polish it off. Ah yes, but hey they were clean!
The dentist had to grind away and resurface like the bottom 50% of every tooth near the gum line with the stuff they use to do fillings so the teeth would have some sort of protective layer since it buffed and ate away the enamel completely.
It took 4 sessions of about a couple hours each (one quadrant of my mouth at a time since it was so much to fix)… and then I think 2 more to fix the top surfaces of my teeth that had also eaten away and caused cavities, which also had to be filled. I'm not even kidding, you could see into my teeth it had literally eaten holes about 50% of the way into my teeth, then entire gum line, top and bottom. It was basically what a a third degree burn does to skin, except to the outer layers of my teeth.
After it was all said and done… I never used the combo again— I use normal toothpaste and a normal soft bristle toothbrush and I haven't had a single further issue or cavity now, 10 years later.So that goes to show that all these abrasives and chemicals they're adding to these pastes and the power tools you grind it into your teeth with aren't that great for them.Not saying this will cause all this, but I'm just throwing a personal story of caution out for everyone. Sometimes less is more when it comes to this type of stuff. I now use natural, fluoride free toothpaste as well. It is very mild and doesn't have much taste— and a huge bonus, I can immediately drink something like a Powerade or other kind of flavored drink without it tasting like bitter rat poison as it doesn't whack out and alter my taste buds for an hour after like most all the normal ones like crest and Colgate. Which should make you wonder… why do they all do that? Is that normal? …
Google the RDA value for Arm & Hammer Peroxicare; it's even less than Crest Children toothpaste or those Crest/Colgate Whitening Toothpaste.
It's probably more on how you brush your teeth, or other issues.
I have long used Arm and Hammer Bright and Strong / Enamel Defense, and it's my number 1 pick, and never had issue with sensitivity and my enamel.
The weird taste is because of the baking soda and peroxide, since they neutralize acid.
Also for what's it worth, with Arm and Hammer toothpaste, I seldom get canker sores anymore vs Crest/Colgate.
