Do yourself a favor, if you get one of these, are a heavy user, get yourself a connect kit from ebay etc for regular food grade CO2 tank. Lasts me 2 years. Costs $36. Thats like 20 of these bottles.

If you're thinking about one of these, do yourself a favor and get a DrinkMate instead. Uses the same gas but can add CO2 to anything (tea, juice, wine etc). My kids love it.

Always check your local marketplace, always tons of people get this and then turn around and never use it. Picked up this and two bottles for $30 awhile back.

Bottles are for the soda, it comes with one. The question was, did it also include the CO2 canisters, unused.

Agreed on getting one that lets you use any fluid (and flavoring) you want.

Unless you're just looking for a Keurig/Nespresso thing for soda, in which case, I guess this is fine.

What keeps you from carbonating any drink you want with a SodaStream? Couldn't you put tea in the clear bottle and carbonate it?

Anything other than water usually bubbles or foams too much for the sodastream and clogs up the discharge valves.

It's been several years since I looked into it, but if I recall it's because the particulates within the liquid cause it to carbonate differently. Drinkmate has a special connector which allows it to dissipate the extra CO2 without exploding. Sodastream doesn't have that capability.

I'd make concentrated green tea to add to the soda water afterward. Or do about 20% fruit juice to extra fizzy sodastream water. Did not realize there was a version (Drinkmate) that allowed adding fizz to any drink- but the cost difference -ouch.

Uses the same CO2 canister as sodastream? The original one or the pink one?

I've never heard of Drinkmate so I'm really glad someone mentioned it.
I've been considering a Sodastream because we drink a lot of sparkling water but if I could also turn Chardonnay into sparkling wine that would be worth it.

Mine uses the original one. Not sure about new ones, haven't looked into it.
