It comes with trial periods of Live One and a few other subscriptions that automatically charge your credit card for after the trial period ends and I know I sound dumb but does that mean you don't have to first opt in to those subscriptions and free trial first?

Now you have to keep the service active on the same phone for 2 months before you can get it unlocked. Previously one could activate the service, move the SIM to a different phone and unlock the original phone after 2 months.
I moved my TF sim with the 24GB data from a Blu phone that was purchased last Nov to my Straighttalk Moto G Power 2024 after using the ST plan and it's been working great. I don't care if the Moto gets unlocked as it's my glove box, camping, backup phone and I don't use/need much data. I could also used WM Family mobile, Simple Mobile, etc. sim/plan too.

Is this phone good for a wifi hotspot? I have the 2023 model and the wifi hotspot is so bad
I have this phone, not recommended, nor recommending any Android 14 OS on 4GB phone. It's laggy right out of the box.

Unlocking now requires 2 months of paid service as well as 60 days time. (Changed April 1) It's not difficult, it's just more expensive than it used to be.

Why more expensive? This is a prepaid one year service. 60 days unlocked. It's pretty much the same as before.

Not what some have recently been told (reps are notorious for giving out bad info though).
They're saying the bundled service included with phone isn't paid service - it's considered to be "promotional service" so in order to qualify for unlock with the new policy you now need to pay for 2 extra months of service just like everyone else.
The policy needs clarification because it specifies 60 days of PAID service now & they can refuse to unlock without it. It's not the way users expect it to work.

What if I transfer service to a new phone will the new phone unlock after 60 days or i have to get 2 months service for it separately?

The new phone would require 2 new months of paid service. Transferred service from old phone doesn't count towards unlocking.

Those trials are complementary and completely separate from phone activation. You DO NOT have to sign up for them, but if you do, make sure you cancel before the trial ends.

I'm just about done with these HSN/QVC deals on TF. For the past 8 years I have paid a small amount for a crappy phone with a small amount of min/data for a year (but enough for a second phone). I have built up quite a balance based on rolling over each year, but every year it there is an issue either from the seller (usually QVC for me) or the provider (TF) and I am just worn down with this every year. I'd rather pay for a little better phone and take a plan from another company.

Yes, I'll lose all those minutes, texts and data I built up, but I just am sick of playing this game every year. And, oh yeah, expect both QVC and TF to spam you like crazy with all sorts of rewards, games, promotions, etc. Now, I can just block all that.

The last TracFone promo I did, they gave me a number that came up as Spam Caller to everyone I called. Their tech support was useless. I didnt keep the number or service.

If you go TracFone, just be aware that the unmitigated hellscape known as customer service awaits you like the grim reaper. I've come to believe after several grueling encounters with these unhelpful barnacles, that they are compensated not by the number of problems they solve, but based on how many hours they can keep you on the line while accomplishing nothing.

Just yesterday I had that experience . 84 minutes lol at least this time she fixed my issues . Times before that they just hang up when they dont know how to help .
