Underwood isn't the "original" recipe either. They were just the original pepper supplier. There is no original recipe siracha available anymore since Huy Fong isn't able to reproduce it with their new supplier.

Not quite the kick as the OG recipe, and agreed that it does have a hint of sweetness, but overall I would say its 90% true to the original and the best substitute we have now 🤷🏻 ♂️

HF is very close to the original flavor these days, and Underwood, the brand that Costco sells, is even further away. It's a different sauce entirely. I know there has been a werid full-on anti HF campaign over the last few years, and it is not entirely uncalled for. But there is a lot of misinformation around buying Underwood if you want the orignal HF taste.

If you like HF, you likely won't have a problem with the current batch. And if you don't want to support the company anymore, that's fine as well. No need to spread you personal thoughts as fact to coherse people.

You can't. The Underwood Farms Sriracha is just their own recipe using the OG peppers that used to go into the Huy Fong sauce. It would be like Papa John's buying up the farms that supplied tomatoes to Domino's and declaring that Papa John's now makes the OG Domino's pizzas because Dominos had to switch tomato suppliers. It makes no sense.

Maybe you'll like the UF Sriracha better and that's fine but if your goal is to purchase a sauce closest in flavor to the OG Huy Fong sauce then that sauce is the current version of Huy Fong sauce with the new peppers. It might not be identical as the original but it's the closest you will get to it.

The new Huy Fong without Underwood peppers isn't as good as the original.

The Underwood Farms Sriracha without the Huy Fong recipe isn't as good as the original.

So now it's a matter of which inferior sauce you like more compared to the original...

The Costco one definitely doesn't taste like the original. Haven't tried the new Huyfong yet...

$5.30 (now I see $5.57) for 28 oz is not really a very good price. I usually buy two bottles when it is on sale at my local Chinese market for $3.99. Recently I've tried a newer brand called 3Mein
for $3.49 which is, in my opinion, as good as Huy Fong.

So, sriracha experts... Any recommendations on a good, broadly available sriracha? Agreed, Huy Fong is not the same and the pricing generally is up. We've gotten Roland sriracha for very cheap; I think it's pretty bad, but my wife seems to like it. Recently jumped on a Tabasco brand sriracha Slickdeal -- coming in a S&S delivery next month, but haven't dug into any reviews yet.
