I'm not picky. Whichever's on sale. I usually only pick up dark chocolate if possible. Right now, I have a Betty Crocker non-supreme/reg. dark chocolate. Then spice and carrot cake to have on hand.

Most likely, you overmixed the wet ingredients or baked for too long. You can use fewer eggs, a better oil/fat like avocado, check the brownies before the estimated time (all ovens bake at different temps), and finally let them cool completely before cutting.

You are better off doing it from scratch to control the outcome. The problem with these pre-mixes is that they have built-in agents that often try to do the same thing as butter/oil or eggs, and they can counteract each other.

Adding more oil will make it more moist. Also check your oven temp, it may be off. Also, time depends on the pan you use, it's on the box.

I've never seen the Chunk version in my stores. They have regular:

Betty Crocker Favorites Super Moist Devil's Food Cake Mix (both 1.50 at Harris Teeter this week)
Betty Crocker Favorites Fudge Brownie Mix, also Dark Choc and Milk Choc versions

Thanks for the tips. Betty Crocker Favorites Super Moist White Cake Mix, Holiday Baking, 14.25 oz was also on sale I bought a few boxes, man its soooo moist so good. It's been over a day covered and its still moist! It's been a long time since i've baked from scratch I don't have a flower sifter. I guess its time to buy another one.

Dollar Tree sells a strainer in two sizes, sm and lg. The large one worked for me. $
