That guy is on a crusade to get everyone to live in his alternate world. While I wish that everything that I ever had to wrench on was metric, the reality is that unless it's a modern car or bicycle, chances are pretty high that it'll be SAE.

Even on modern cars you will find SAE fittings.I have a 2025 Ford Maverick and I installed an aftermarket shield kit to protect a harness and under bed area from mud and the 2 bolts holding on the drivers side bumper mount needed to be removed to install. SAE bolts.

It would likely be fine as long as you were careful and stopped it once it was tight, so it didn't keep hammering after that

good point. i just like small compact tools like stubby/dcf870 . so who is this set for given its impact rated? those few who own 90-deg impact wrenches?

I buy low profile impacts and not low profile sockets. If I need to impact I can, if I need to use it on a pass through socket/wratchet handle I can as well. They also look better and come on a nice foam tray.

Low profile impact with a stubby impact is really nice, it also keeps weight down. These I can throw on a regular impact driver and do most things.

As I get older I'm buying more and more to keep weight down. You really will never need heavy 1/4 in impacts. You might as well get these if you think you need 1/4 impacts.

I was doing this bc i rarely use my impact but its not worth the risk. There was a 25$ complete impact set posted recently just get that

It might seem that SAE is obsolete, and perhaps it should be, but there are trades and industries where its code to use them. Electrical code for example has legal requirements for this or that size SAE fasteners. The time and effort to change all that code and the difficulties of a transition period mean that SAE is going to be around for quite a while.

SAE is one of those American-only majorities....and even then, it's getting less and less. Unless you're wrenching on your grandpappy's rust bucket, nearly everything today is metric.
