Do you not drive a car? These kind of sentiments are a joke when your wheels are spewing out a million times the microplastic every time you drive, lol. Hold your breath while walking outside, and move to a desert without cars or you might get some dust on your clothes. Oh but the sand dust is bad too. I don't know, you could live in a bubble with a HEPA filter... but the HEPA filter media is plastic. Maybe the void of space? Oof, I guess the radiation would fry you pretty quick.

It will work but will still have minerals which distilled water don't. You want to use distilled water to prevent minerals like calcium, building up inside the steamer. The same reason they require distilled water to be used on CPAP machines

My wife has the Oghom brand that looks similar. She likes it. Use distilled water as others have mentioned. Paid $24 a couple years ago.

The less minerals the better. Like most steamers it recommends distilled or purified water. Reverse osmosis would be purified, so is fine. Calcification is what causes the damage.

I've owned this for a few years. Bought it on sale but paid a lot more, so this is a great deal. It takes about 5 minutes to heat up after plugging in, then works well. Seems to take longer as it ages. It's a little noisy and has no automatic shut off. You control the heat and steam by the distance from the fabric. It's easier than ironing, so long as you don't need pleats or creases. Works great on curtains, draperies and photo backgrounds.

You realize the interior parts of you car are giving off VOCs and just circulating the air probably makes that worse? Do you not walk through the parking lot? Woosh, exposed to more microplastic in the air than this device ever could attack you with.

I'm the biggest air quality hypochondriac I know. I'm sitting next to a large HEPA filter; I use one in my office at work. I hold my breath when walking by things I don't want to breathe in.

I also know a lot of it is futile, and certain things are more futile than others. I think a lot of this microplastic avoidance is just internet conspiracy mumbo. Yeah it's concerning in an overall environmental problem sort of way, but personal avoidance of plastic straws/synthetic underwear exposure and shit is ridiculous.
