Nikon is on a roll, just took the #1 position in Japan in mirrorless. Their lineup is awesome but very expensive.

To be fair, if you don't already know what this is, you probably aren't going to be spending close to four grand on it.

But yeah, probably still worth putting "Nikon" in the title.

Stay away from the lensn 24-120 mm, the worse focal lengh of Nikon , I m using Nikon 50+ yr and I know what I am talking about , unsharp, distort and very low contrast ...tried with so many generations of this nikkor focal lens and still disapointed ...wonder why they are still making these lens. z8 ís a great Nikon body !
That's quite the contrarian position, everyone loves the Z version of the 24-120. You taking about the F mount versions?

Do the downvoters know that nikon does not have a 61MP camera yet? The "good" to "very good" performance lenses on sony alpha blog are excellent with nikons 45.7MP or A7RII/III's 42.4MP sensors. There isn't even a fair test yet to tell Nikon's premium lenses are better than sony's "excellent" and "outstanding" lenses.
It is notable that nikon lenses are currently top 2 on DXOmark, yet the comparable lenses from sony or canon are not tested. What is telling is that the 85mm f1.2S isn't sharper than the yongnuo 85mm which is less than 1/10th of the price. It is strategically placed near 45.7MP in sharpness score, while yongnuo 85mm can feed A1/A1II's sensor. Yongnuo 85mm, while having very good IQ, is ranked average among many 85mm lenses on sony alpha blog.

Yawn. There's tons of lenses missing from DXO. Hell, they've got the Gen 1 Tamron 70-200 on there, but no G2 (which is phenomenal).

I own lenses both high on the leaderboards and ones that are completely missing. Pro photographers aren't relying on DXO scores.

Yongnuo is getting there, and their 85 looks pretty good, but bang for the buck, I'll keep running my Nikon 1.8G lens on the FTZ adapter for the time being.

Sorry, but you don't know what you are talking about. The Z version of this lens is outstanding and has been a big seller.

Your z8 price was 1 year ish from release with an insider coupon that has no known origin. This 30% is half a year from release, at a price that is very close to last gen used. Basically, nikon is desperate that it is tapping the liquidity of used market with refurbished products. You don't see sony doing it( or doing it in volume to be exact). Canon does it twice a year in nov and dec, less than 10 days in total.
Nikon sold a lot of Z50IIs so they naturally have a lot of refurbs, thus the discount. And it sold out really quick. So your theory that the Z50II refurb sale means Nikon isn't doing well is laughable.

agree, the 24-120 f4 is an excellent lens if you do not need 2.8 or a prime.
