how are these packs without padded shoulder straps? we're talking 1.25 lbs for the pack plus 6.25 lbs of water plus the actual stuff you carry in the pack...

At least when we bought some a few weeks ago, over half of their hydration packs were around half off, even online. If that's true you could probably expand the deal. Granted unless you are local or buy more than one you run into shipping costs.

I had this pack for about 9 years now, and I think it is more of a biking pack than a hiking pack. I used it mostly for hiking and now it is all ripped. I did about 2000 miles with it.
It is not as comfortable as Osprey Talon, but then it is also 2.5 cheaper.

I used the camelbak mule but different version with the pad for music festivals for the past 6 years and it's pretty solid. I did have issues with it leaking but it was more of a cap issue and camelbak sent me a new one long time ago and it was good ever since.

Great price but I will never order from this store. They play a lot of bait and switch type nonsense. You might as well order from China. TERRIBLE customer service.

Please note the retarderness in the new design:
  • Sholder straps are mesh with binding around the edges, have absolutely no padding. These skinny piece of material (binding) is what going to press on you buddy.
  • the hose is a mile long now (I'm not planning on sharing it with others while I'm on my bike, wtf do I need it so long?)
  • but my main peeve is the hose holder: it's on the receiving buckle for the chest strap, ON OPPOSITE SHOULDER STRAP, which means you must disconnect the hose every fking time you take off the pack and you must use the holder if you don't want the end of it hit in the face of your buddy.

I unfortunately purchased one during previous deal and quickly decided to give it away to my enemy.

I have this in the 14oz women's version and thought it was very well built. Love the magnetic mouth piece holder. I use it for hiking.

I just bought one of these locally 2 weeks ago and used it for a 7 mile hike through fairly rough terrain. No complaints so far. I thought the straps would be uncomfortable, considering how thin and unpadded they are, but I actually felt just fine by the end.
