It sounds like you either have a 7th gen or 8th gen Intel i5. If 7th gen, this is about the same performance wise, but has newer media decoders so watching YouTube would be more power efficient and potentially less choppy. If you have an 8th gen, yours i5 is still way more powerful than this n150 (although it also consumes much more power).

If it's like the N100 Kamrui I recently got, the 'front' and 'back' are really 'front' and 'side'. I was surprised that the front and back is not actually on opposite sides but instead adjacent sides.
Also wish it had USB C

I have an i5 that is about 8yr old. I use it really for Office and Web Browser usage. How would this compare. Would life span on this be good also?

Many people seemed to have pretty poor experience with device quality or after sale support. I'd keep away from this brand (it's a rebrand of acemagician).

Also officially the 8th Gen can accept windows 11. 7th and below can't without edits and mods

I bought this. Its decent as a general browser, but nothing crazy special. It does come with Windows 11 Pro.

Yes. This will likely use more power. Possibly just a few dollars per year difference though. If you're just doing basic home assistant functions, this is overpowered but not much more than the cheapest N100 or N97 systems. An N100 might be better but not all systems are equally power efficient. If you're going to use more containers and/or VMs, this is not a bad machine for basic use.

As BrainDoc said, this will run HA fine, but I would suggest delving into a hypervisor like proxmox and running HA as one of many VMs on something like this.

Fyi. I got the 150n with 12GB of DDR5 to possibly replace an old laptop that ran Kodi because the playback was very choppy (very few frames). LibreELEC Kodi stable did not work (because of the n150, but a nightly build worked great. (Using the latest 13). No more choppyness.

Side note I am able to locally cache the content in Kodi 13, this is nice because one of my NAS drives intermittently fall of my network.
