I thought someone told me that if you do that, it restarts the 60 days for unlocking. Keep us posted because I had a friend do that as well.
So just got off the phone with the unlock department. In a nutshell as long as you have paid for a service for 60 days under the tracfone umbrella (total wireless, straight talk, tracfone) it will unlock.

Bottom line - paying $15 for the 2nd month through Tracfone will make you elligible.

Bad news for me was I thought I would save $15, and after my initial month of straight talk I transferred an already existing active total wireless line to the phone. And the rep said it has to have 2 PAID months attached to the phone. Since the line was originally paid through a different device I am not eligible for unlock.

**I manually activated that phone using BYOP. I saw in the total wireless "Manage Lines" menu it was showing a unidentified device. I have another phone due to unlock tomorrow that a support rep helped me transfer to a existing tracfone line. With this tracfone account, the IMEI of the device is listed, hopefully I will be able to get in unlocked tomorrow.**

Chase Unlimited has a 25% off (max$15) so you'll save another $13 or so off the first order of $52.

Took way too long to create an account on their broken website. Keep saying technical issue and to call them. Finally created the acct after smashing it countless times. Then it said the registration email was not valid because it thought there was a space after the email. Had to backspace and retype it.

So, I bought a FREE Galaxy A16 from StraightTalk deal about 1.5 month ago (still waiting Galaxy A16 to be unlocked - haven't hit the 60 day mark yet).

1) Can I still purchase this Moto G Power 2025 "under the same account" or do I need to "create a new account" to get this deal?

2) How would I go about activating & transferring number from Galaxy A16 to this new Moto G Power? Ultimately, I want Moto G Power to be unlocked as well after 60 days.

Please advise on the steps I should take. Planning to place an order soon for Moto G Power.
I also got A16 and activated it on March 20 but it is still not getting unlocked. I only paid for first 30 days. When I called today was told I need 60 days of service. So make sure you are aware that 60 days paid service might be required to unlock

Thanks for sharing the info. In my case after the paid 30 days my service has been inactive for 30 days. Do you know if I can still pay for one month of TracFone and the phone will unlock or it has to be 60 consecutive days?
Appreciate your help. Thanks

Might already be mentioned, but after first month, rebrand to tracfone and get the $15 plan is an option. People on reddit have confirmed it will unlock. I'll be able to confirm, Hopefully, in 2 days
Do you mean that you just signup for straight talk service for 1 month, let the plan expire, and then signup at tracfone and open a new account there for the $15 plan using the straight talk phone? It looks like one also has to pay $4.99 for a Phone SIM Kit at tracfone.

Basically, yes. And you can use the straight talk SIM

You will need to ask support, call or chat, to "rebrand" the phone to Tracfone though

You can also call customer care after your first month expires and beg them for the $10 talk/text only plan to be applied for your second month. I have seen several others able to do this on Total and TF. For $10, I don't mind paying for another month for guaranteed unlocking on day 60.
What is this $10 talk/text plan you mentioned? I don't see any such plan listed on the website.

I would like to know about this as well. Has anyone had any success getting the $10 talk/text only plan applied for the second month?

exactly. ask them on chat or phone for it. They don't typically give it but if you ask they could.

"Straight Talk unlock policy is subject to change without notice."A lot of us got screwed by buying the Moto G Power in February when the conditions were to pay for 1 month of Gold service. Just know, you are taking a risk that they will honor the 2 month agreement.
Also important is this, please read:

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I can confirm that switching from Straight Talk to TracFone for second month of service works -- I just paid for TracFone $15 plan as the second paid month of service and my phone is now unlocked.

Here was my process:
  • 3/24-4/23 Straight Talk plan (paid service month #1). No service 4/24-5/24.
  • 5/25 Contacted TracFone via online chat support. The agent "rebranded" the ST SIM to TF and created a TF account. The device's original activation date with ST doesn't change (this activation history can be seen in the new TracFone account) and the ST paid month still counts as one paid month of service.
  • This is where it got a little messy for me. Once the CS agent rebranded the SIM and created the TF account, they asked to also enroll in a plan, but I opted to do this myself via the website, and I ended the chat support there. I logged into my TF account proceeded to try to enroll in the $15 1GB plan that discounts to $10 if you also enroll in auto-refill, but the wesbsite wouldn't successfully process my enrollment (non-specific error message when trying to complete registration). I then tried enrolling in the TF app and the app showed the error message "device is in inactive status".
  • I then contacted chat support again. They attempted to enroll in the plan I wanted, but they said the $5 auto-refill discount wasn't an option on their end because the account hasn't been activated yet (??). This didn't really make sense considering the auto-refill discount was a checkbox option when enrolling on the website an app. The agent said there was nothing they could do about this (not even a manual $5 discount), so I just went ahead with the $15. It worked -- I restarted the phone, service was activated and the phone was also now unlocked.
So there you have it. A pain in the ass and very annoying about not getting the $5 plan discount, but I'm just glad it's now done. You'll have to decide for youself it the hassle of switching to TF for $15 plan is worth saving $20 compared to ST's $35 Bronze plan. You can avoid some of the trouble I had by allowing the agent to complete activation with a plan all the way through.

Interesting.
I brought and activated on Feb. 22 for 30 days.
Rebranded on May 18 and bought 90 days on TracFone just in case.
Hoping my phone unlocks around June 18.

Hmm yeah that's not consistent with what happened for me and others. Based on the official current Unlocking Policy, technically your device should be eligible for unlocking now as it is both 60 days past first activation and you've paid for two months of service. If you're already 60 days past first activation, you don't need to wait through completing two months of paid service, you just need to have paid for two months of service -- this has been the experience for me and others in these related threads (i.e. phone unlocked as soon as the second month of service was purchased).

What does it say when you check your device's eligibility at the bottom of this page: https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/home/

Probably worth contacting customer service and have a person review your device for eligibility.

I'm already using my phone on another network, so it has 100% worked for me.
