As per the changed policy,
starting 1st April, Total (and all Verizon mnvos including ST) now require 60 days of paid service

so this phone is only 3 months old, and I bought the 14 month old model that came out in 2024

seems the newer model is slower but with more features like more cameras, water proof design, gorilla glass (the old model does get micro scratches easily), etc.

A lot of us got screwed by buying the Moto G Power in February when the conditions were to pay for 1 month of Gold service.

Just know, you are taking a risk that they will honor the 2 month agreement.

Another data point - I can confirm going through tracfone rebranding works. I had originally purchased the Moto G in early March with 1 month of service. Didn't put in a second month of service, hoping it'd still unlock at day 60, it did not at mid May. Got busy, waited until today, read this and opted to try rebranding to tracfone via chat. CS rebranded via chat, but my $15 plan transaction didn't go through (something about sys down); so i logged into my tracfone account and bought the plan myself, somehow got the $5 discount by enrolling in auto pay (just need to remember to cancel that auto pay), total was $11 something. Tried #83865625# and phone now says unlocked. Thanks to whoever posted it!
edit: and somehow it kept my straighttalk phone number after rebranding to tracfone, which was weird, it didn't ask me if i wanted a new number or not via the website, just auto gave me the straighttalk phone# i had.

I also did the same and once activates the new plan I talked to rep from TracFone on chat and he was able to unblock the phone

Can anyone explain how to downgrade to the cheaper bronze plan for the 2nd month of service (if staying with straight talk for the 2nd month to unlock it)? On the Manage Lines page in my account (https://www.straighttalk.com/my-a...nage-lines), there is a Manage Plan section for a line. In this section, would one click on the Add A Plan button to add a plan in reserve? Or click the Change Plan button? I just activated the phone and I'm wondering when and how I can downgrade to the bronze plan for the 2nd month of service.

In my case, I had let my line expire because I was in unlock policy limbo at the time. So I eventually reactivated it with the Bronze plan (got a $10 discount, too). In your case, I'd try Change Plan. Just my SWAG, though. Someone will chime in.

Did you choose new customer or adding an additional line or refilling my plan option when buying the plan?

I was also able to unlock after rebranding to Tracfone and enrolling in the $15 plan ($10 with auto pay discount). Phone was unlocked immediately after restarting. Did not have to request Tracfone to unlock.

I *think* it's 30 days. I received reminder emails after 7 and 10 days after purchase. I waited a total of 3 weeks but I should have activated sooner. I might not have gotten caught up in the change in Unlock Policy in April. Something to consider since Verizon is campaigning with the FCC to change it again (to +6 months?). In retrospect, I would have activated it immediately since it was only a spare phone/line for me.

* I can't recall seeing any anecdotes about anyone not being able to activate a phone bundle due to an expiration, though. Maybe few people have tried? I'll invoke Cunningham's Law.

FYI, Use the service within a short period maybe 90 days, otherwise the phone service will disappear from your account ( it happened to me).
