Spectropure has been around for a very long time, I had some of their original systems back in the early 2000s when they were $500 for pretty much the same system. Yes they make excellent systems but in this day RO systems really have become very common place and there's no reason to spend extra money on a Spectrapure. One could get one of these cheaper systems and just buy their filters when it gets time to replace. Of course just my opinion.
No big difference. Test the TDS, let the data talk.

If you have a granite countertop, is the only option for installation to drill a new hole in the countertop?
Many sinks have a hole for a soap dispenser hole which you can repurpose.

I have a countertop expresswater at home to supply both hot and cold water. It is painful to refill and drain the water in tank (I put a pump but still extra work), any good under sink system with hot water?? My wife wants hot water function.

I don't know about this particular RO system, but under sink is usually the way to go.
Just to add, TDS levels do not indicate water safety. A water sample at 10 TDS could have more heavy metals in it than a sample at 600 TDS.

You definitely need UV. This particular deal lacking UV unit. However, they have add on UV but $212 on the same page deal.

Maybe beneficial in your area, not sure. But the RO process alone is probably enough, and if you're in a city the water is treated at the plant anyways for safety, and has residual chlorine that keeps it safe.
In my city they actually use UV at the treatment plant.

Do any of these RO systems do a better job of handling hard water than others? I don't have room inside for a water softener and installing one outside is very expensive, but I've read that feeding these really hard city water like I have is not good to keep them functioning.

pay the professional to do it. It'll cost you $100-$150 but it's worth it. One small mistake will cost you thousands of dollars and it's a nightmare
A good diamond drill bit is also like $50 if you were to do it yourself so it's not worth the headache in my opinion
I got a 5 pack of 12mm bits for $7.74 in 2018 for this RO unit. It's a little scary but easy. Made a well of water with tape around the hole. I did have to use two bits as the first became filled with the granite core. The hardest part was tightening the spigot with very little room behind the sink. Found my basin wrench about two years after install and took 30 secs to cinch it down. Reminder not to use a tool as a weight for water softener line at floor drain and forget about it!

The other thing with this Express Water is that it says no maint for the tank but flow and recharge gets very slow after a few years. Perform maint on with the pressure valves when it slows down too much - plenty of vids available for both the drilling and the tank maint.

I'm not sure. I know that there isn't that much.space behind the fridge.
it doesnt take much space, just have to run a 1/4 R/O line to the back of the firdge. its like $10-$20 on amazon for the "kit" ... just search for "NSF Certified Reverse Osmosis Water Fridge Installation Kit" .... if you get someone that knows what they are doing and doesnt need the kit you can get just the 1/4 line and the T adapter and the adapter for the fridge if needed and it would be less than $10. If you dont know how to get the line to the fridge you can just get a plumber (although a cable tv installer would be cheaper) cause the main point is drilling and professionally covering up the hole) and have them run the line through the wall/floor.
Its so worth it, nothing like having R/O ice and fresh COLD r/o water from the fridge. People think its nice on the counter top, but they dont know what they are missing out on until they hook it up to the fridge. Once you hook up R/O to the fridge, you wont look back!
