Don't buy these, they suck. Slow performance and unstable connection. I've tried using these 3 times already and never was able to successfully copy my data over completely.

OK, I've watched videos on the stuff but still have issues. Isn't SATA and NVMe 2 different things? I understand M.2 form factor.

M.2 is a form factor that can carry pcie, sata, and USB. It's not common anymore but a lot of early m.2 ssds were sata. This enclosure is one of the earlier ones where that was more common.

I recommend the Sharge SSD enclosures. It's on sale right now and it's thinner + it has magsafe compatibility. Really high quality product

I have used this once to copy everything over a smaller SATA from a Dell laptop to a new and larger NVMe 3.0 ssd a few years ago with no issues.
