Same reason why I chose this over the XM5. Portability. I will wait for the refurb XM6s. I only use my XM4 when traveling.
Sennheiser HD 599 SE's and 1x Sennheiser HD 595.
58x and 600 are meant for home/desktop use and preferably with a headphone amp. The Sony is not meant for critical listening. Go with the Bowers & Wilkins PX series headphones if you want better sound. However, the NC is still better on the Sony.

All the XM have had issues with plastic hinges, but the XM4 are far more robust than the newer XM5 and XM6 model change.
Also, don't update the firmware because Sony ruins the ANC with 2.6 and later, though it is possible to downgrade with workaround tools.
