If I am going to use a hand operated screw driver, I really need a ratchet one. This Kobalt one is a favorite for a few dollars more:

I have several of the HF multi-bits and they're surprisingly tough. I've trashed multiple Harbor Freight phillips heads, but those blue-handled ones just soldier on.

But:
The Craftsman has 1/4 and 5/16 nut driver, which the HF does not.
The HF does not take standard hex drill/driver bits. It uses custom dual-ended bits, and regular driver bits don't stay in. If the Craftsman takes standard bits, that would be an advantage over the HF. I don't have the Craftsman and the website doesn't show the extra bits, so I can't say whether it does or not. Anyone seen it and can check?
You are mistaken:
Size(s) Phillips: PH1, PH2, Slotted: 3/16 in., 1/4 in., Nut driver: 1/4 in., 5/16 in.

1/4 and 5/16 are the holes in which the bits are inserted. Take the bits out - and you got nut drivers

I got one in my bag and I used it several times the flat head snapped when I try to tighten the screws on a metal junction box cover.

This is only slightly true. This is the same tool as the HF one compared here with the same flaw. There is a 1/4" side that can be used as a nut driver, but the hole is deep and there's no magnet; it relies on the ball detent. So you can put a small 1/4" but in it but it will not work as it will drop well into the hole and falls out if you tip the tool down. If you use longer bits like the 2" kind(not the normal 1" type), they will be usable but the bit will easily fall out.

Project farm actually did a test on the one piece screw drivers and HF's Pittsburgh did surprisingly well against the Craftsman which was near the bottom. I too used to get the Craftsman ones back in the day which were some of the best but I wouldn't trust too many multi-bit sets since they tend to strip so easily. Maybe I've been using a bunch of crappy multi bit sets my entire life?

I have this Craftsman screwdriver and you are exactly right.

I have the HF one and just checked it to confirm. It's like the tool was designed in a vacuum. They should make the bits simpler by removing the ball and just drop a magnet into the middle of the shaft bit.
HF sells a ratcheting one for like $9 that's probably a better choice. If you already have bits, I'd say this is a better choice.

I have both.

The craftsman is significantly better and worth the price.

I do have a few of the harbor freight though because it's free with their coupon sometimes.
