These have an overheating issue when populated with m.2 drives as there is no heatsink or fan. Also is known to lock up during large file transfers, which can be fixed by setting all drives to gen 1 speeds.

An SSD with a heat sync would help this, assuming it fits.

This is not a good buy. There's a fella on YouTube dissect this thing completely or slow it to a crawl. Even then, to risky.

It does have a fan, not that it helps much to cool the drives.

If you know how to install Kubernetes baremetal or plan on replacing the eMMC partitions with TrueNAS then there really is no better value for a 4xm.2 NAS right now that can run containerized apps unless you are a raspberry pi wizard. Yes, it does run hot, and I have 3d printed a casemod to add 2 extra 60mm fans for under $10, but it was running fine at 70c heavy load before that, now it's down to 50c. If you aren't putting heatsinks on your m.2 drives then this isn't the hobby for you.

Rumors talk about N150's limited data rate and stuff. I'd second it, if we gonna put 4 ssd in and might not fully utilizing the speed.

I have this now and it has 2 blowers fans set up directly to cool the ssds. However, blower fans just suck in general. If they had put two same size radial fans on this instead it would have an order of magnitude more air flow.

I have a raspberry pi as a little server and I want to tell everyone out there that you do not want a raspberry pi as a server. It is so slow and not even a good money value. It took me 5 hours last night to copy 30gb of files from it to a usb drive that was also connected to it.
