The $8.99 has 10A/1250 watt ratings though. Just adding information to your comment.
Circuit breakers provide little safety when your cords are this thin.

This whole thing would be almost a non issue if they would put fuses in them, I don't know who thought it was a good idea to allow making cords without fuses or breakers.
