So you are knocking on Samsung tablets because you prefer iOS? Then why bother commenting here if you have no experience or inclination towards actually using it? I personally have the S9 Ultra that I use every day because it is great for media consumption. I understand a big tablet is not for everyone, but there are enough of us out here that appreciate the additional real estate.

What's make you use iPad and not the Samsung?

You can get an open box tab s9 ultra for as low as $575 in Best buy, I think it's a better deal since tab s9 uses 8gen2, and you don't need to trade in anything. best buy open box items are usually just like brand new.

Is this processor worse or has problems ?

Got this tab during the last deal. Buyer beware this thing has connection issues with wifi 7. It keeps randomly losing connection and reconnecting. The only device I have that does this. Maybe mine is faulty but others are having the same issue if you do a search

For some reason I cannot link my ID.me to Samsung...it just errors out after logging into ID.me and being redirected back to Samsung. Their website is a glitchy joke...

What is the use of this thing anyway??. A giant uncomfortable to use tablet???. It would be one thing if it had cellular. I would get a book pro instead of this crap
I use mine for art. I love the pen and there's some good apps I like. Hi paint, infinite painter, concepts.
Having Samsung dex is amazing. I love having an android desktop environment that is easier to use with a mouse and keyboard.
I then just use kasm to stream a windows desktop in browser for things I can't get, like affinity, or inkscape. Gives my kids the option to play my nice computer, and I can go anywhere with a connection and work. Coffee, bar, park.
I got myself a cushioned camping loveseat, and I just stretch out and do my work. Comfy, simple.

Magic Keyboard can hold the ipad with magnet in air, more portable/stable, more suitable to be used on bed. samsung can only be used when it's on a flat table
And I get more used to IOS

When you say that Samsung can only be used on a flat table, that is solely based on what case you choose to use. I use one for my S9 Ultra where the back panel pulls out and turns into a stand and I use it in bed all the time.

To each their own but my iPad collects dust since it can't do a lot of the things my S9 Ultra can do. Having mobile Firefox w/ ublock origin is a game changer for blocking ads on streaming platforms and everywhere else on the internet. The Adguard app blocks ads in all my apps and can be customized to allow certain apps if I want (some airline apps don't play nice with adblockers).

With Samsung Dex I can connect my Tab or Phone to a TV to avoid those prompts from streaming platforms that tell you to use their TV app plus I can use a VPN to easily change regions. There are many free streaming apps from TV stations in other English speaking countries. It was super easy to download them all (on Apple devices you need a seperate Apple account for each region) so I can stream anything I want using the Tab or a TV.

For gaming while traveling, I just need my Tab and an Xbox controller to use Xbox cloud gaming via Game Pass or I can use an emulator to play PS2 games directly on the Tab.

I'm probably forgetting some things, and it will depend on each person's individual use case, but some of the things I use my Tab for either can't be done on an iPad or can't be done as easily.

I have a Samsung tablet and an iPad and I like the Samsung pen a lot more than the Apple pencil.

I decided to upgrade my families Galaxy S7 FE to this tablet. I saw the $50 discount right away in the app for anyone wondering. I really hope the option to use this tablet as a second screen on a corporate IT Windows laptop can work. My companies VPN software blocks access to local networks/printers when connected. If I already have a ssh session establish it does not drop it so I hope this same behavior works with the Tablet.

Since this will primarily be used around the house to watch YouTube while cooking and other activities are there any cases with built-in stands that people recommend? I am looking at a few on Amazon but nothing really jumps out at me.

As someone who also has s7 plus, I can't find a single reason to upgrade. I'm not using it often, but the screen is great for airplane trips and occasional YouTube on the kitchen table.

I wish it had more use (just can't find use cases to be honest), but even if it was used more, what's the reason to upgrade from s7? It's great already.

Depends on use case really. I used to write notes no the ipad air, but the 15" screen of my s8 ultra offers a lot more real estate to write. With that said, the apple pencil is way better as far as writing experience goes.

I'll hold on to my tab s9 ultra. The upgrade in minimal and s9 has snapdragon chip. Couldnt justify paying additional couple hundred bucks for s10 ultra!

Not knocking anybody who has a use for it, but 14.6" is indeed ridiculously huge by tablet standards haha.

I have both a Galaxy S8+ and iPad Pro 13" since I need to keep both sides around to develop and test mobile apps. They're both teetering right on the edge of what I personally find usable.

Beyond app dev, the two have different uses. The iPad is notably better for drawing, and the way the magnets on it work with the stock flip cover is nicer than what the S8's equipped with. I also find the iPad's aspect ratio better for uses that aren't media consumption, because the aspect ratio of the S8+ is somewhat awkward in portrait mode. On the other hand, the S8+'s flexibility is nice in a handful of circumstances (for instance, the ability to use full browser extensions by way of Firefox), but I don't know if it'd be the clincher on a purchase decision between the two.

DeX is interesting but I don't think either is quite up to snuff for more "serious" work. In situations where I need to work and remain highly portable I'd reach for a ThinkPad X1 Carbon or MacBook Air before I would any Android or iOS tablet. Even with Android being less restrictive, mobile OSes have too many limits and rough edges in comparison.

The situation where I might consider an Ultra might be if I were a university student and wanted a single "everything" device with no external monitor, with a cheap Amazon eye-level tablet stand on my desk at home and nice Bluetooth keyboard for use on the go.

You said it right. Im no apple fan but 13 inch ipad has cellular model. DEX is better but none of these tablets are good for any reasonable work. Other than some sidekick or travel video devices or some artist kind. I would go buy a open box Book 4 360 which is more practical...

My Daly drivers are either think pad carbon OR my new beast that nobody can match for productivity. ASUS Zenbook Duo... The freaking laptop is the best ever I bought in my lifetime...

I have multiple ipad Pros, X1 carbon and android tables. But my Zenbook Duo is something I would never give up for productivity and practicality.

if you're no longer getting auto-verification, try going through a Samsung rep with a corporate email. Sometimes they can manually link it
