"Despite the TV having modern gaming features, you can't use VRR with local dimming enabled, which is unusual and really holds back its usefulness for gamers."
I just got this TV. Very happy with it. Great image quality. I only play Switch, so it works for me from a gaming perspective.
I had an old Vizio M70-E3 from 2017, so this was a huge upgrade.
85" is huge and difficult to get up my stairs, and hard to mount too, but I got it done.
In the past, Panasonic TVs have better power supplies/electronics, heatsinks, and shielding. If these modern TVs are heavier than their competitors, then this design philosophy should warrant higher price.

I bought this tv last week sold and shipped by Amazon for the same price, only because I thought if I didn't like it I would return it and direct from Amazon would be easier. Nonetheless the tv is great, picture really nice, and bright for enough for me. My old TV was dim and ugly once I would turn the brightness slider up. Old TV was a Samsung 75" crystal uhd so non QLED. This was a night and day difference for me

Those who run the TVs at maximum brightness put a lot of thermal load on the power supply. Cheaper TVs that look good when new may not last long when mounted against a wall with little air circulation. Super thin TV panels will always have higher failure rate.
TV rating can be highly subjective, especially if the reviewer uses a single freeze frame to prove the point. When properly calibrated, most good TVs look the same under normal viewing condition. Viewing angle should never be an issue unless you don't care about sound quality.
That's like saying a sports car shouldn't be driven fast. If it's engineered to do something then it shouldn't be an issue unless it's poorly designed. I am pretty sure Panasonic knows what they are doing. I've enjoyed a lot of their products over my 40 years of life.

That was 15-20 years ago. This isn't the same Panasonic, they're all made by TCL now.
Amazing if Beach Camera becomes the hub for TV sales for Amazon. They are located near one of the largest ports in the US, and sell a lot of sets through Greentoe (name your price site).
I've had a horrible experience with Beach Camera never delivering a "paid for" tv sold through Amazon.

It's a TCL, not a Panasonic. If you want Panasonic, buy their OLED.

But TCL doesn't spec the internal components. That's why we check the weight of the unit. Same weight = same design. Beefy heatsinks and power supply have more mass.

Show me a high performance sport car that's easy/cheap to maintain and run forever like an old school Toyota Corolla with 1.8 engine/no direct injection.

I have a 1080p Panasonic still going strong after more than a decade, bought in 2013. It's still vibrant and perfectly ok for casual use in the living room.
