This is good deal but I recommend rice cooker from cuckoo. From my experience Cuckoo rice cookers have modern design, durability, good sticky rice result.

There have been good deals on Cuckoo rice cookers from Costco previously, but as I recall one of the recent models now has a non user-replaceable battery that runs the screen, and once it dies after a few years the whole thing is useless.

I bought a Tiger rice cooker (without a screen) and it works great, never had any issues - and mine wasn't even made in Japan, so I'd expect this to be even better.

I have the same Q. Where is the cheapest place to buy a stainless steel inner bowl, rather than nonstick? Quick check on Amazon is insane, $44.50 for replacement JBV-S10U 5.5-cup. There are some other bowls that look like they might fit, but is there a go-to cheap Tiger stainless bowl replacement? The stainless replacement for another brand (Zojirushi NS-TSC10) is only $8, for instance.

man if the bowl is basically the same price as the whole cooker; i might as well get a new cooker, but it's such a waste.. ill prob just move on to buy a brand that have replacement bowls

Wow zojirushi SS inserts are that cheap? Thanks for the info, I've seen people preferring elephant brand for multiple reasons

It's an unofficial third-party bowl that gets ok reviews, though some reviewers say it doesn't fit 100%.

I wish manufacturers would just make 2 product lines, one with stainless only, for those who don't want nonstick. I'm not picky but would be buying a rice cooker as a gift for a family member who hates nonstick.

I've had this same model for my family for close to 10 years. It's used every single day. It also has a built in battery that isn't replaceable. Though it still works fine, it just loses the time when unplugged.

Like the other 2, my inner nonstick is wearing out and I'm looking for another one. The cooker itself still works fine.

Does rice still turn out ok with a stainless steel vs nonstick?

It does still turn out well but you might have to spend a little more time cleaning the liner. Some models have a mode where you can throw water in after it's emptied and it will heat up briefly to release anything stuck on. In my experience most are slicker than the liners in Instant pots, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Just bought a cuckoo and it was the worst rice ever. Will give it a shot but very very disappointed. Stick to tiger or zojirushi if you want good quality.

Depends on the model. The one I have doesn't have a white/jasmine rice mode, which is what we eat 99.9% of the time. The rice is too sticky for jasmine. Reheating makes it worse. Tried all the settings. Good for short grain.
