Just so no one misses it, this does NOT have Ethernet.
My Brother Multifunction Laser printer has been going strong for 10 years, with barely a hiccup. Toner is cheap (especially 3rd party toners carts) and lasts forever. It's been an extremely reliable workhorse and I can't recommend them enough.
I think it means, if you are buying this, purchase a 3rd party toner, and install it while the printer is still returnable, just to be sure that it works...If it works, do not update your printers firmware...

I learned this the hard way with a pair of old Samsung Laser printers when HP bought the printer business from Samsung. HP ruined both my printers, and I put them in the landfill rather than have them go to somebody who would have to feed the HP monster...

The printers were color laser that cost ~~$275 each new from Fry's.One Toner OEM HP cost a cool $490...

I would be buying this if I hadn't bought a Brother inkjet AIO a few months ago. I have barely used it and it's already asking for new ink. The laser printer would've lasted me much longer.

Just a fair warning, brother has gone over to the dark side with the likes of HP. These older printers might not be as connected but it still has wireless features so it might be prudent to check

Sorry, what are you trying to warn about? The inclusion of wireless features? If so, why should that be a concern?

Firmware update may lock your system out of 3rd party toner.

I need to warn you about some other things too. For instance, your wallet might be a little more uncomfortable to sit on because you'll have more money in it due to the savings. Also, you'll have the inconvenience of setting some table or desk space aside for this thing. Not to mention the extra hassle of packing it around when you move, which will be a problem for many years as these printers seem to last forever.

Dont do the firmware updates no matter how much they come up.
As for the toner look in Amazon and read the reviews.. I used EZ-INk but they are gone but their toner still running strong.

I don't have this model, but I've been using Greencycle aftermarket toner cartridges in my Brother and Canon laser printers for many years with no issues. I've stuck with this brand because it's so reliable, but I'm sure there are others that are just as good.

Does this keep asking for the date and time every time it is powered on after being unplugged for a long time like Canon?
