Yeah, you can do as upgrade to your line and pay off. Whether ATT gives you the unlock code thats up in the air. Sometime people get it from app/CS but technically you need to wait for 60 days before requesting unlock. So I'd try unlock portal and then CS rep if it does not work but you might have to wait for 60 days

it is weird

now the unlock denied with this message

We can't unlock your device because it's no longer active on an AT&T account. Resubmit your request and select No when asked, "Do you have a mobile number from AT&T?".

My Verizon bill was $124 but they prorated it after I ported out. They would not refund the activation fee despite me porting out a day after activation. Was $41 and some change after they prorated.
Any luck with the network lock issue?

Did you cancel the account before getting the unlock code? I suppose you did this as a non ATT user as instructed. If the account is cancelled it's unlikely you will get the unlock code from the portal. You will have to chat with CS to see if they can give you the code.

bought the ATT version but delayed multiple times (still haven't received it). If i cancel the order from walmart, what happens in this case? The walmart rep said they can cancel the order but the issue is that I would still be on the hook to ATT?

If you have gotten the email from ATT for account setup etc then you will be on the hook to cancel that account. If you haven't got that and the phone is not shipped yet then the account might not have been created and the Walmart cancellation should be enough.

I really hate to seem thick headed here, but when you do the sim swap for the unlock, are you supposed to enter the IMEI of the ATT card in the unlocked phone? This seems counterintuitive to me...like you're asking ATT to unlock a phone they don't own. Or do you enter one of the other hard coded IMEI numbers on the S24 phone (not the ATT SIM)?

Went to 3 vzn stores to pay off the damn device with cash! First one refused upfront with the manager refusing to even try. not sure if it was corp or franchise. Second store was a franchise location and they couldn't do cash payoffs. Finally, the third and last store was corp and they immediately helped me pay it off with cash. Cancelled the line by porting out. Gonna deal with CS tomorrow for a partial refund.

It's been almost 48 hours and still stuck on the 'in-progress' to unlock. Should I chat with them as an 'non-att' user or log onto my new att account and chat with them?

Still trying to decide between the S24+ vs. Ultra. Does anyone prefer one over the other?

S24 phone. You are trying to unlock a phone which was activated on ATT but not associated with any account.

From the new ATT account. Mention you need to put international sim during travel etc.

Yes!

I think your account has to have been open for at least 60 days for you to be able to unlock it right away though?

I paid my S24 Ultra off with AT&T while in transit. When it got here, I used the new SIM in the box. Went online and activated.

Then I requested an unlock through the AT&T app on my main phone for that line. Instantly approved. (You could also do this on the AT&T web site if you don't have the app loaded.)

They will send you a 10+ digit code via text and email. You need to put in a non-AT&T SIM and re-start the phone. The phone will prompt for the code to unlock one time only.

I didn't have to wait, do SIM swap, etc. No problems. It may depend on the timing of the payoff though? I paid mine 2-3 days before the phone even arrived.

I keep an extra AT&T line with no contract phone for these deals. Pixel 9 Pro XL, etc. Worth the extra cost.

Good luck!
Did they ask for the reason for unlocking? Or did you give them any reason to? looks like I will have to do this route too, as my unlocking status with sim swap is stuck for 2 days now.

Flashing should not change user data partition so they should still be there, apps might need updating. For flashing ATT or Verizon firmware matching the phone you don't need patched Odin, only if you wanted to flash non-carrier version you would need it.
could you please send me link where to download latest odin (unpatched version) viz 3.14.4 ? I could not find it in samsungodin and xdaforums.com
