Wow this is popular but is this Ultra a good deal for a current ATT customer that simply needs a new, quality phone?

That store is making up their own rules which is against company requirements! I did mine at a company store and did not encounter any problems. The store rep simply asked for a govt ID then checked the phone and said I have to pay $432 in cash. I gladly handed him 5 $100 bills, got the change and receipt. May be you should try a different store.
Did you have to bring the phone in to Verizon store, or can you pay off before it arrives?

Yeah, it's a chicken and egg problem. That's why I create the account beforehand and link the phone number, I normally mention this in my posts e.g. https://slickdeals.net/f/18193018-google-pixel-9-pro-xl-128gb-unlocked-obsidian-with-pixel-8a-trade-in-activation-with-verizon-required-10 but forgot to do this here
How do we setup the Verizon account with the new phone before we have the phone? I ordered a Verizon version on Mon. Hopefully will receive by Friday or Saturday.

You can create an account with just email and password. Use the same email as the order and then you can "link" the phone number when you get it.

Yeah, $432 plus tax is perhaps $200 lower than an used s24u.

Hey everyone, I picked up the AT&T S24 Ultra (model SM-S928U) and got it unlocked through simswap. Now I'm looking to flash the stock unlocked firmware to get rid of the carrier apps and boot animation changes.
For anyone who has the same model (SM-S928U), can you post the link for firmware here please, I don't wanna flash a wrong one,
current build number - AP3A.240905.015.A2.S928USQS4BYE4
Search in samfw.com with model number 928U1 and then XAA firmware. Note that you are indeed flashing a mismatched firmware U1 on an U model and need to follow the steps using patched Odin etc.

Ordered yesterday with VZ, got shipping confirmation today coming from Chino CA, even though I'm on the east coast. No emails from VZ about account setup yet. I also went on VZ and tried to setup new account with the phone number from order and they don't recognize it. fingers crossed.
I'm in same situation. Ordered Mon and received shipping conf from Chino. Going through UPS. UPS showing haven't received yet (now Tues). Also on east coast. How long did it take until you received phone?

not needed. Just find a Samsung phone and transfer over, the att XOXO will then shown as an APP. Just remove it afterwards.

There is no need to flash unlocked firmware but if you don't want carrier both verizon and ATT will have it and you can flash unlocked firmware for both.
Do you know what firmware one would need for S24+ Verizon phone?

It took ONtrac almost a week to deliver the phone about 5 days total. Thankfully the activation didn't start until a day after shipment so i was able to pay off and cancel line on the day i received the phone. I was able to get refunded the activation fee and all monthly charges.

Verizon did end up linking my DPP to my phone about a week later. Was not in fact free.
A bunch of us were wondering whether those vz "free" phone will really end up free. Looks like after all they are not, just slow in action.

Fedex Site shows the label been created on June 3rd. But has not changed since. chatted with walmart now and was told "Upon checking here, I can see that the order is bound to be delivered on June 6 and a label has already been created for the item and will be handed over to FedEx to ship out. Your order is currently at Chino, CA. Please kindly allow them to fulfill the delivery until tomorrow." Maybe I should have called/chatted earlier?
Did it ever ship? Mine is still stuck in Chino too.

Why is Verizon the only option? Multiple stores near me have ATT s24u and s24+ in stock. im sure Walmart locations elsewhere have inventory as well. I literally walked in to Walmart today, set up a new ATT acct and walked out with a s24u @ $12/mo, $0 down, only paid $29 sales tax.
I was not aware this deal can be replicated in store, but even then I am sure many of us would prefer not to deal with a third party/Walmart rep setting (which I think it's the same person running the electronics department) the at&t account asking for SSN in front of other ten people etc

Correct, I thought it was too good to be true.
