6/24: I tried ordering Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Verizon. Here is fare breakup online on Walmart, it's showing:Down payment to Walmart: $382 (asking to pay online on Walmart website)Monthly payment appearing due to Verizon:
  1. Device payment to Verizon $1.38/month for 36 months (0% APR) --> which is ~$50 over 36 months (so device payment is $382 to Walmart as downpayment and $50 to Verizon as $1.38/month)
  2. $75/month for unlimited plan
  3. $35 Activation feeTotal due to Verizon will be $111.38 for first month and then $75+$1.38 from next monthThis seems new breakup, I am not sure now if Verizon will let me pay in full which is only $50 cash for device and show account as settled because everyone so far paid $432 cash at Verizon.Any idea if S24Ultra can still be bought in this offer via Verizon and paid in full ($50 balance) and cancel the connection post that and automatic unlock after 60 days.
Also, Anyone is able to get phone unlocked so far via Verizon on this deal?
Anyone else observed change in payment like down payment of $382 to Walmart and 1.38/month to Verizon, does it affect prepayment of device to Verizon on receiving the device? Please help!

Thank you!! I so wish I knew this. Or anybody at the store knew this. Back to the Walmart store I go tomorrow! Will report back.Question - Since the return has already been processed by the customer service, will the Wireless guys still be able to pull up the Verizon records for the DPP?
Sorry about your experience. If this still doesn't work (touch wood, cough cough), call the corporate office of both and file your complaint. The district manager will contact you. You shouldn't really be penalized for someone else's mistake. Good luck!

You don't need to flash only unlocking is needed to get this to work on T-Mobile.
i believe you do need to flash if it's originally at&t and you want updates to work.

Ah, yes you are right ATT versions still only updates if connected to their networks. I thought with multi CSC firmwares things have changed for better but evidently not.

Sweet deal that just turned into an absolute nightmare for me. Ordered Verizon S24U, shipped on Day 3 via Ontrac. When the package was delivered (left at the doorstep even though it requires signature), there was a cheap Galaxy A26 in the box.
Any-hoo, I contact Walmart customer care within 5 minutes of delivery and am told to go to a store for a return. Store refuses to accept return because its not the same device as ordered.

Customer service promises to send me a shipping label, it never arrives. Customer service then says I can keep the other phone and they are refunding my tax payment. Nothing happens.

I am going around in circles between store, phone customer service and chat customer service at this point. It dawns on me that apart from the first line customer service, there is no simply no way to escalate such situations to a more senior team within Walmart.

In between I get a fat verizon envelope with a bill for about $120 (first month service + activation + device instalment). At this point, I now want to cancel Verizon service, void the device instalment plan and have nothing to do with this deal. I contact Verizon who send me on a transfer spree in their phone tree. Over a 3 hour period, I speak to customer service, billing, NoService, Activations and Fraud with no recourse.

I go to the store again and finally get a very busy Team Lead who pushes some buttons on a screen and spits out a return receipt which his predecessor had sworn was not possible! He couldnt answer what happens to the Verizon Device Instalment plan even though the Walmart return only takes care of the tax paid for the device. He asks me to speak to Verizon because Walmart has nothing to do with a '3rd party billing situation' even though Walmart is selling the 3rd party's instalment plan.

Back to Verizon I go. I finally get a sympathetic customer service rep at Verizon who explains that unless Walmart sends them the return information in their internal systems, Verizon cannot do anything about it. She even volunteers to call me back when I am at the Walmart store and indicates that if somebody from Walmart confirms that the refund was registered properly in the system then she could submit a ticket to cancel the device instalment plan. She also suggests that I should speak to somebody in Walmart Wireless and not the customer service desk. She even helpfully suggests that the Walmart Wireless guys are to be found at the back of the store near the Electronics section, bless her soul!

I get to the store and am told there is nobody in that store who works Walmart wireless and returns are handled by customer service anyway. I get hold of another Team Leader at Customer service in the front of the store who flat out refuse to do anything about this situation. They also refuse to speak to the kind Verizon customer service rep who has now called me at the promised time slot (wow!) and is feeding me things to say to the Walmart Team Lead but nothing worked.
After being on the phone with me for a full 45 minutes while I am talking to the Team Leaders in the Walmart store, the Verizon rep gives up and says that until Walmart sends the right information to Verizon, there is absolutely nothing she can do and calling Verizon repeatedly will not achieve anything. She goes so far as to tell me the as a indirect seller of Verizon services, every Walmart store has a designated wireless person who the store can call for such matters. She also suggests that its possible that since i completed at the customer service desk in the Walmart Store, the Walmart staff did not complete the process of making the appropriate updates in their wireless system that would push the order cancelation/return information to come to Verizon systems. However nobody at the Walmart store seems to have any idea about any of this. As far as they are concerned, the return is completed and they have refunded the tax payment. At this point, I have spoken to 3 different Walmart Team Leaders with no progress.

TLDR; ordered Verizon S24U, got the wrong phone, managed to get it returned at the Walmart store to get my tax payment refunded. However the Verizon phone service and device instalment plan are still live and I cant seem to find a way to get Walmart to inform Verizon about the order being refunded so that the whole deal can be canceled. I have a bill for $120, no phone and nightmares of monthly bills for next 36 months!
Any suggestions to help resolve this? I will clutch at any straw right now.
First of all sorry that you are going through this. Here is what I would do if I was in your place
  1. Verizon - Tackle ongoing charges : Keep pushing Verizon to cancel the line first, stating you dont even have the device that is supposed to be on that line on a DPP. They should also be able to see the device was not activated and no usage on the line.
  2. Verizon -Tackle one time charges : As far as your first bill is considered, I would again contact verzion separately and state this line is to be canceled , shows no usage , dont have device, what is this bill even for. Worst case scenario you pay the $120 (which would have been fine if you had the A26 to sell, but looks like you were able to return it)
  3. Walmart: Having walmart customer care do something so that verzion gets the information they need seems like a long shot. Getting walmart service to do routine things is a pain, having to find the right walmart person who can solve this for you is unfortunately next to impossible. But if you still want to try, you can keep looking which walmart store has a decent Wireless desk near you, show them the return receipt from customer service and see if they can submit this information to walmart. but its a witchhunt. You can also check with the phone repair desks (TalknFix?) in walmart. Those guys might know who in the walmart store might be able to help you.
TLDR - I think you have a better shot at verizon making this right than walmart.

Just this week I received my June 1 software update from T-Mobile. I didn't flash my phone. Mine was originally AT&T. After unlocking it, when I inserted my T-Mobile SIM, it asked if I wanted to convert it to T-Mobile and I answered yes. All the AT&T pre-loaded apps were removed and replaced with T-Mobile apps (e.g. T-Life). I was glad to see the automatic SW update this week.

Oh okay, that's what I thought that all Samsung phones ship with multi-CSC firmware which switches over to carrier based on the SIM but I saw conflicting reports online.

OnTrac lost my package. After reading all the negative comments online, it seems some of their drivers are often the ones responsible. Unfortunately, I paid off my AT&T phone while waiting for it to arrive. Now I have to resolve the issue with AT&T, as there's still a balance of $432 after the cancellation. What a hassle!
Are you lucky to fix this issue?

I am waiting for my new AT&T phone, and my package is delayed by OnTrac now.

As my chase AT&T 100-75 offer will be expired soon, I am thinking about go to At&t store to payoff before I receive it. After reading all the negative comments, I worry about I can't get $360 (phone itself) back if my package is loss.

I got this deal, and I was able to pay off the $50 balance in store. I ported out the same day and am waiting for the final bill.

It's normal. You can do any down payment (except the full amount) and leave any amount on DPP to get the discounted device price. Based on your creditworthiness, the system will ask for down payment if the credit line they are willing to offer to you on the DPP is less than the device financed amount.

Not yet, even though AT&T's online CS confirmed that the balance would be removed from my final bill, which won't be available until sometime next month. I don't understand why they couldn't make the adjustment right away. Now I have a past due AT&T balance that's due for payment by 7/7, and they told me I don't need to pay it and should just wait.

Seems like the phone is still tied to the account. You can try with the other IEMI and then if it does not work try SIM swap again by first making sure s24 shows up on the new account. Sometimes SIM swap might not work in which case you can try your luck talking to CS to give you an unlock code. At the worst case, you do have to wait fro 60 days.
Thank you for your response. Tried chatting with a different agent and got the unlock code

Verizon Galaxy S24+ OTD total looks to be $402 for me ($360 phone + 23 tax + $19 bill). Details below

Sunday 6/15:
Ordered from Walmart and paid $23 for tax.

Monday 6/16:
Created a Verizon Account after receiving Verizon email. Cannot link new line to new VZ account because I didn't know the phone or account number.

Friday 6/20:
5pm - Galaxy S24+ delivered from OnTrac
5:30pm - Linked new phone number/account to Verizon account
5:45pm - The bill was for $117 ($35 activation + $75 unlimited welcome - $15 welcome credit + $10 for device monthly charge + $8 for surcharges + $4 for tax & govt fees)
6pm - Went into a Verizon Corporate store with $360 cash to pay off the phone
7pm - Came home and logged back into Verizon account and the account showed that the phone was paid off
7:30pm Started a chat on Verizon website to cancel the account immediately. The reason I gave was bad signal at home and buyer's remorse. I asked to be refunded for the $35 activation fee as well as having the majority of the bill to be prorated since I've only activated the phone for less than 2 hours.
After trying to convince me to stay, eventually the representative said the line will be canceled and I should see a confirmation email in a few hours

Saturday 6/21:
No confirmation email came. The phone still works. Contacted support again via Chat. Nothing accomplished. Chat was so slow to respond. So I gave up.

Sunday 6/22:
Contacted support again and asked line/service to be canceled immediately. The line was canceled and I received a canceling email from Verizon confirming the cancellation. New bill is now $72 (instead of the original $117). I assume the $72 is $35 activation fee + the prorated use/tax/surcharge, etc).

Thursday 6/26: New first & final bill is now $19 (It was originally $117. When I canceled the line, it dropped to $72. Four business days later, it got revised to $19)

OTD total for my S24+ looks to be $402 ($360 phone + 23 tax + $19 bill).
