Good deal but if you qualify Apple back to school sale will be on soon which means $750 for 13" M4 16GB ram and 256GB storage assuming the deal is again $150 gift card for macbook air this year. IMO that's a better deal than this.

No, it would be $750 directly from Apple. $900 (edu store normal price) - $150 (gift card from back to school promo) = $750

IMO unless you have a use case that requires upgraded MBP specs or an MBP-only feature then the Air is a better choice. I personally find the base model MBPs to be a weird option—only slightly more performant but all the extra bulk.

The Costco offer on the 15 inch with similar specs for just $100 more is a no brainer, unless you travel a lot and need an ultraportable.

Personally I pay for subscriptions through apple so those gift cards are as good as money on my end. Note some subscriptions may overcharge you if you try to pay through apple so don't use it for those.

Right but it's not $0 off either. There's no objective way to precisely value a $150 apple gift card so I just went with the face value.
