I've run 2kg of the grey though an X1C making socket and tool trays for the garage, works great, grabbing more.

Got the white and black last sale for my A1. White printed great. Black was a little more fussy, needed to up the temp a bit on nozzle and bed to get a good print. Was also glossy where I would have preferred something flatter.
Gonna pick up the white and Grey this time around.

How do you guys get this to adhere? I feel like I've tried everything, cranking up the base temp, glue stick. Any advice?

I'm printing this right now with a textured plate that has year old glue on it. Sticks like crazy. Burned through two spools printing cereal box hangers the last few days, time for more!

I just got a 3d printer this month. Been doing stuff with generic PLA only. Any reason why PETG is so much cheaper? I thought it was stronger (yet more difficult to print) so I assumed it would more $$$

I have been buying these 2 packs Comgrow PETG for going on 4-5 months now. It is the cheapest I have found unless you are buying in bulk.

It prints just fine, as good as any other budget filament, Kingroon, Jayo etc. Plastic spools are nice.

2 Cons:

Ive had a couple rolls (like maybe 2-3 out of 30) that ended up showing a tangle mid way through the spool and the second con is about 50% of their rolls come with failed vacuum packaging so if you dont have a good dryer I would pass. I can almost guarantee if you order a couple rolls at least some of them will have baggy/unsealed packaging that has let air inside.

I must have run at least 30 rolls of this stuff through several different printers. Id recommend it for this price.

if it is not adhering your bed temp is too low or you Z height is off. If your using glue stick and still can't get bed adherence your Z height adjustment is waaaaaaaaaaay off as glue stick will compensate for even moderately off z height!!! OR your bed is not level and your using a 2017 3D printer without a bed leveler! PETG is the 2nd easiest filament to print with next to PLA getting a first layer and bed adherence is basic 3D printer 101 stuff.

PETG usually has the opposite effect. I actually put glue stick down as a release agent. otherwise you will ruin plates

PETG was super frustrating for me to get to work until I read some posts about how other guys did it:
  1. Dry your filament roll really well. For like 8 hours, not just 4. Even if you just opened it, that doesn't mean it's dry enough.
  2. Clean your heat plate with hot water and Dawn dish soap. Get everything off it and then don't touch it and get any fingerprint oils on it. Just wipe it with a clean paper towel and don't put any glue stick or anything else on it.
  3. Increase your layer height to like 0.3 or 0.35. PETG doesn't like to be squished out of the nozzle and then dragged along. It likes to fall out of the nozzle and sit on the project while cooling.
  4. Slow everything down. Every movement your print head makes needs to be slowed down. Everything. Each layer, each time it travels between objects on your plate, etc. I just went down the list of travel speeds (mm per second) and set stuff to like 50 or so. Just accept that anything you print with PETG is going to take 4 times as long as if you did it with PLA.
  5. Some guys have also suggested using a 0.4mm nozzle. I don't have one so I haven't tried that yet.
I have never used this Comgrow filament (only Polymaker and Sunlu) but I think for $18 I'm gonna give it a try. Good luck with your projects.

Make sure z offset is not too high, get some aqua net hair spray and give the build plate a light coat. Try not to spray the hair spray inside the machine.

No, I've never got any rolls that weren't individually vacuum sealed.

I mean they are all 'sealed'

i mean any bags that are compromised. You can tell if the vacuum seal isnt there when you pick it up and its all baggy instead of tight.

I get a lot of rolls like that from them. I dont really care because I put everything straight into the dryer anyway but some people dont have a dryer.
