These are a blast but fair warning... This $100 purchase will turn into $300 in no time once you start eyeing upgrades 😋

I have the bronco version for my 4 year old. He loves it. So do I when he's sleeping. It has a crawling mode which is like half speed. I keep it in that mode most of the time for him. He loves climbing over anything and everything around the house. It never seems to get stuck.

He has other faster cars but there's not enough room inside to really use them.

There are a million upgrades for these. So much fun.

I don't think they're worth $100. I would get this for $60:

It's not a rock crawler like the Jeep but you'll probably have more fun. It has a brushless motor and goes up to 30 mph.
Yes that little jeep is worth $100 it's made by Axial which has built high quality RC crawlers for a while now so it has replacement parts and upgrades available for it. Fun for indoors and small crawling tracks, basically a great boredom filler when you're sitting around even crawling over your own bed.

The other one you show is a cheap toy with almost no parts support so yes it is faster (totally different type of car) but the second you smash it that's pretty much time to buy a new one. I have several I got from friends for free (I used them as parts) but I only have them for my kid who is very destructive with RCs so I don't care about those as they are disposable.

I still see a lot of replacement parts for my two Laegendary RC cars I bought from another deal posted here. I think those all use the same parts and, worst case scenario, you can find those parts on Ali. So, for occasional fun those "no name" cars are well suited. My $0.02

This will stand up to years of use. I have a JKU version that has taken hundreds of tumbles over several years. Aside from a few steering servos and a new motor it's been a trooper. They're a blast for kids and kids at heart seeing what they can conquer. Great rainy day fun building courses and seeing what it can get up. Mine has scaled Mt. Couchmore and navigated the Ruglands many times.

Your local hobby shop should have for same price. Definitely support them first.

Why would you want a brushless motor in a crawler? I thought a brushless motor would cause cogging at low speeds unless you get a sensorless motor.Edit: This is the same price as tower hobbies, amain hobbies and horizon. You might want to support them since the tariffs are going to hit hobby stores hard. No idea if they charge shipping or not.
Brushless is 100% the way to go for a crawler. The low end torque really allows you crawl at a snails pace but has enough power to get over anything (especially with a 3s battery). A brushed motor is jerky which is hard for trying to position yourself over obstacles. I just got into the hobby maybe 2 years ago and just got a few crawlers on brushless last year and it's been a huge difference.

Fun being relative. I had bashers as a kid and they're fun drive around parking lots and stuff, but doing donuts gets old fast (unless you have a local track to race at). Also note, with higher speed it means you need more space. With a crawler I can stack some rocks in the backyard to make a course, take it camping, take it hiking, or take it to the park and have an entirely different challenging experience every time. I'm also biased since I enjoy mtbs and off-roading though.

My toddler wanted to play with it, so i got her one I didn't care about.

Obviously a much different class, but it's remarkably fun for the price. Because it flips over and keeps going, it's much harder to get stuck.

I agree that the noname RCs are pretty darn good for the price, but when it's only $40 more... not so much of a benefit. Plus you can't get all the parts and there are almost 0 hop ups available where this crawler has all sorts of parts available. Maybe that's a bad thing though as you'll spend $300 more in hop ups haha. Maybe he's better off with the cheapy you can't do anything with except run until it dies.

Oh I should also add that the Axial jeep has a resale market where you can get $90-100 all day for it when you're bored of it. The Laegendary or haoboxing generics are pretty much trash or maybe $10 on marketplace but no one is buying a used generic.
