This would be perfect for me to switch to from my current Mint plan, but I have many months left. Any way that I can buy this deal now and activate it later this year?

On Google fi for like a decade, but they have the worst customer service of literally any company I've ever dealt with. I recommend staying away.

can you elaborate? I just called customer service and both times they answered within seconds, and were very very friendly.

I travel abroad about 4 month a year between Europe, Japan, China. what I absolutely need is to be able to receive SMS while aboard (for verification texts), not necessarily but the nice to have is some data while abroad especially in China for google service, can FI achieve this? I probably will use around 10g a month between domestic and international. Hypothetically speaking if I'm in China for 3 month at a time, will FI suspend me? I'm currently on mint, and I can receive text at no additional charge when travel. Ty for any insight.

Just a side note: About 2 months from now ( July), Samsung will release the next fold and flip. Typically the "current" fi user will get some direct discount on preorder phone. Last time I believe it's like $600 discount for Fold 6. This fi plan won't qualify for the highest discount. The pay-as-go plan and unlimited premium are the one qualify for that.
is that $600 discount before the trade in? Buying directly from Samsung typically nets you the biggest discounts when you have a trade in. Two years ago you could trade in a Flip 4 for the Flip 5 and only pay $50.

I have not had any problem getting through to them, but most of their customer service agents are in India, are under trained, and are extremely useless with extremely thick accents that require me to ask them to repeat what they're saying, every other sentence.

That may sound like bigotry, but I'm purely talking about my ability to communicate with them and their ability to solve problems. I had an issue with a pixel phone screen that was covered under an extended warranty, and none of them knew what I was talking about. Getting it actually fixed, took hours and hours of free time to get them to actually cover it despite being a fully documented problem that Google covered with their extended warranty and sending them links to said warranty.

I have since moved to an iPhone after being on android for about 15 years, even though iPhones are worse, the customer service surrounding them is 1 million times better. I'm currently looking for other phone service providers as well

You need to bring your phone, so it doesn't stack with the Fi phone discount (which can be up to $700).
Your saving for 18 mo. is actually similar or smaller than ~$700, so unless you are an iphone user, this is not a good deal. If you use android, their phone discount promo is better.

yes i's just 600 discount ( you do have to stay with them for like 120 days to keep the discount though). Basically after everything, it stiil like $500 discount ( assume you do the pay as you go plan). Oh and yes you also got trade in on top of that.

AFAIK, Fi will suspend your service if you stay in China for more than 3 months. Within this 3 months, you will be get 50GB/month of data and unlimited call and texts while you are there. Your number may be different while you are abroad. There are many quirks you need to work through for most roaming services.

if you travel frequently, it's better to move your number to google voice. then you can SMS with any data connection.

Samsung deals 2 years ago are long gone. the flip/fold 4 was their last great sale. lately they are ho hum and NOTHING like what you got and before. Got the fold 4 with tab 8 ultra, watch, key board and more for less than 400, maybe even less than 300 🤷

If I previously had Google Fi about 10 months ago am I eligible? It's still showing $35 a month instead of the $17.50
