I have this and like it. Loading the line takes a little finagling but it works. Pro tip - soak your line in a bucket of water, it will last way longer.

Just as a counterpoint, I've had this trimmer with Powerload and Line IQ for a little over a year and I love it. It works flawlessly for me and I don't have those little circles from bumping the head on the grass. I'm not a heavy user though, so maybe problems will develop. But at this point, I'm very pleased with the product.

Bought last week at same price at Lowe's without the extra free battery. Returning and buying again to take advantage of this deal also offered at Lowe's for the extra battery.

If you buy at at Lowe's, it seems like you can do the separate return of the battery to make this ~$200 if you order through the app. I'd think this is a pretty good deal, but maybe everyone has string trimmers already. This one has the Line IQ as well.

I loved the idea of Line IQ but there are a lot of poor reviews on it.

I have the stand alone string trim with line IQ and it works well. I've only had an issue with it once spooling the line but otherwise it's been great.

I read through reviews on line IQ. Looks like it doesn't function well for a small but vocal amount of users and that cleaning internal parts can improve it. The type of line used also seems to factor in.

Probably have to hope you get a good unit and maintain it?

My dad recently bought the 13" trimmer, self propelled mower, blower, battery, charger and free battery deal from Best Buy for $600.
That is the greenworks brand, different from this product.

Does Best Buy now sell EGO? I thought they only sold Greenworks and WORX?

What does this $300 16" trimmer do that the 15" refurbished one at Acme tools for $105 won't?

Line IQ sucks! I have had mine "serviced" twice in a little over a year, and replaced the head. Now it's not feeding line again and Ego says I again need to replace the head at a cost of $50.

Don't get the Line IQ model. I have had mine "serviced" twice in a little over a year, and replaced the head. Now it's not feeding line again and Ego says I again need to replace the head at a cost of another $50 (the heads only have a 90 day warranty). Instead I'm going to throw this POS in the trash and get a bump head model.

I agree. I've have such a hard time getting this thing to feed some line. It just refuses to release more more line even when it's down to an inch or two.

Some research shows this is a common problem. Switching to the faster speed and revving the trigger has been helpful in feeding in more line, but it's not always successful. I'm disappointed to have spent $300 the last time this deal was on the front page last year.

Do yourself a favor and get a bump head trimmer.
