Gas Stations & EV Charging purchases include those made at merchants classified as places that sell automotive gasoline that can be bought at the pump or inside the station and public electric vehicle charging stations. Gas Stations & EV Charging affiliated with supermarkets, supercenters, and wholesale clubs may not be eligible. Certain parking garages where public electric vehicle charging is offered or included may not be eligible.

Public Transit purchases include local commuter passenger bus, rail, and ferry services. Taxi, rideshare services—including shared bikes and scooters—long-range passenger landrail, and water transportation services are not included.

Utilities purchases include purchases for residential electricity, natural gas, and water service. Utilities purchases also include purchases made over the phone or online for internet, cable, satellite TV, and mobile and landline phone service. Purchases at retail stores for internet, cable, satellite, and mobile and landline phone service do not qualify. Purchases made through third parties, such as through a landlord, property management company, or homeowners association, may not qualify. Purchases for standalone streaming services, some satellite phone and internet service, vehicle connectivity, accessories, or equipment may not qualify.

*The Cashback Bonus shown on the tracker is based on your posted transactions for the quarter and may be different than on your statement, which shows the rewards added to your Cashback Bonus account during that particular billing period. The tracker does not include any Cashback Bonus earned through additional promotional offers. Rewards will be added to your Cashback Bonus account within 2 billing periods. We may make adjustments to reduce your Cashback Bonus based on your account activity, such as the return of a purchase or a reward disbursed by us in error.

Not very useful for me. Electric/gas and Internet (Xfinity) require direct debit from a checking account, so can't use a credit card. Costco and Safeway are the cheapest for gas around here and both are excluded from this offer; Costco Visa card already gives 5% cash back for gas purchases at Costco anyway. Garbage isn't listed as a utility, so not sure if that works. No useful public transit in my area. That just leaves my cell phone bill and water bill.

I'll prepay $1,500 for my electricity/gas... should take care of my bills through November.

My utility company actually allows me overcharge my cc and carry a negative balance.

I used to do that for the Internet bill, but then Xfinity sent out a notice saying that the $5 discount for autopay would no longer be available if you used a credit card to pay the bill, and you have to use ACH with a checking account to continue to get the $5 autopay discount, so I switched the payment method. I still use a credit card for the Xfinity Mobile bill.

You can still keep the autopay set to ACH over bank, but pay with credit card early.

Awesome timing....last night I almost paid my water bill up for a few months. I decided not to because they charge a 3% fee to pay online but this will take care of the fee plus make it cheaper. Win-win!

Wait, is that true? Do you just leave some trivial amount ($1 or so) left to be paid by ACH?

You can pay full with credit cards. Actually, you can also pre-pay multiple months' balance with credit cards if you so wish.
