The days of aftermarket car audio systems being feasible are coming to an end. Between proprietary factory radio chassis sizes and data bus systems on most newer cars, upgrade options are severely limited. I see double DIN as mostly limited to 20+ year old vehicles. Those who want a nice stereo on a new car are better off getting premium factory audio at purchase.
Yes, for $30 it should have GPS, a floor jack for roadside emergencies, and a built in winch in case you get stuck in the mud. Plus an emergency beacon in case you get lost, and a first aid kit. I can't believe they didn't include any of that.
$30 for a basic radio with Bluetooth isn't bad...but something like this was never a $250 radio. Just another one of those defunct great names bought and slapped onto cheap junk. I'd venture to say this was probably never over even $100. Still, even being nothing special at all, still a good deal for a basic radio as long as it actually functions

Tend to agree that it's absurd that you can even buy a double din car stereo shipped to your door for $30. It honestly blows my mind, that you can get something like this for less than one meal of fast food for two. And it is crazy to expect AA or CarPlay for $30. But I understand in this day and age of car stereo, wireless AA or CarPlay are essentially mandatory for most folks.

Where's the fine print that says Free Xm Radio?
Wow, $30 for double din on 2025, back in the mid 90s that was the cost of the after market pigtail or RCA's

For sure, almost all OEM vehicles now come with heavily integrated , proprietary, infotainment systems. 99% of the people see no need to downgrade, or sidegrade features or functionality of their very expensive vehicle, in order to get a few more watts of power, or a couple different obscure playback options.

The days of slapping in an upgraded alpine, kenwood, or pioneer head unit have essentially disappeared for all but the craziest of audiophiles. It's a different world now versus the 80's and 90's.

I still have a Nakamichi head unit and changer from the late 90's when they were sold at Best Buy.

Definitely a nice deal if you needed what it offered.. Great if you wanted to take out your current radio in a vehicle you're selling but don't want to part with the radio..

Nakamichi is a shell of its former self. It is now a Chinese company with pretty subpar products.

Perfect for a cheap convertible (unless they cut the top for a $30 unit)

Please dont ruin the look of your car with aftermarket head unit. These also tend to go out quickly. I hate buying a used car with aftermarket units. They throw away their old head unit also in the process of installing it CAN cut wires to properly install. Dont forget the added plastic bezels… they are flat out ugly.

I mostly agree, but at this price point I like the dual camera inputs and generous amplifier section, in addition to the USB charging port, CD/DVD drive, and RDS. I haven't owned a Nakamichi since their glory days, and agree that the list price Woot posted is ridiculous. But for $30 shipped it's hard to find anything in a name brand with this feature set. Would be great as a shop or off-grid receiver setup or a portable for those with some build-out skills.
You are on my wavelength. I'm immediately thinking either shoving into 3rd gen 4Runner or shop tinker project.

If you would have told 16 year old me that this would exist as a $30 Nakamichi product in 2025 I would have bet you literally anything against it. It hurts me seeing these brands going on Temu stuff.

We're all going to end up with only Taco Bell when all is said and done.

Yeah, the current owner of your next used car is definitely reading SD.

no car play or AA, no deal..

It took me forever to figure out I don't care about apple car play or android auto. It's just a bunch of blessed apps that will work through your head unit. I prefer a phone mount and Bluetooth. The head unit sometimes locks you out of functions while you move.

This head unit looks cool, and AV in is a neat feature though HDMI in would be better for testing stuff you travel to check out on FB marketplace. This radio should be in the good enough club. I've even seen people mount car radios in old computer cases, and use the old power supply to power the 12v unit.

It is even worse when it is an American company like RCA, Zenith, GE, Sylvania, Admiral, or Magnavox. I believe most of those names are owned by Chinese companies now. Hopefully we eventually get American made televisions again.
