Metal flasks are not great for what you normally use a flask for. I think the normal flask use case is to smuggle alcohol into a bar/restaurant/concert/sports or the like.

Metal flasks are bulky (obvious outlines in a pant pocket), set off metal detectors, difficult to fill (opening is very small and requires a funnel), and the capacity is ~5 1.5oz shots, which is ok for one person for a couple hours. It's enough to get the evening started, which is where the pre-party moniker is appropriate.

However, a plastic bladder type flask, is easier to hide, more comfortable in a pocket, much cheaper, 16oz is enough for sharing, being squeezable makes it faster to empty I to a coke or whatever glass you are using. Here's a 20 pack on Amazon for $9.

hmm...amazon also sells bulk batches of flasks for dirt cheap. So say you are going out and want to get tore up but don't want to have to carry your expensive (and empty) flask the rest of the night, you can pitch the cheap one and only be out less than $3.

Why pour the whisky into a little flask? Just drink from the bottle.

7 1/2 oz. of 80-proof (presumably) alcohol for a couple of hours is OK for one person? 🫡

I use 8 oz water bottles. Perfect size for smuggling and looks like you're only drinking water if you're drinking blanco tequila or vodka.

Can't beat free! That's a true slick dealer right there. Also way less conspicuous than carrying a flask or a weird flask bag

Agreed, I used to walk right into baseball games with a 16.9oz water bottle filled with white rum. They stopped allowing outside drinks after covid, so I put it into my pocket and walk right in. You can fit 2/3 of a "750ml fifth" into a standard disposable water bottle.

One time, ever, a man said something about the water bottle poking out of my board shorts pocket and I told him I take medication that dehydrates me so I need a bottle on me at all times. He nodded approvingly.

I had my herb pen in my other pocket, so I wasn't even lying.
