They probably are closer to exp, which is why they're on woot. I've bought these deals many times and never experienced a difference in quality compared to ones my wife bought from the nespresso website. For what it's worth, I've asked a friend of mine who works at nespresso corporate about the expiration date issue and he said they're basically meaningless and that the pods are good for at least a few years after exp date.Hoping to find a promo code somewhere to bring the intensos down under $1/pod, that's always my target for buying these.

Anyone know if these tend to be old? I know Amazon sometimes sends near-expired goods.

I asked a similar question on an earlier deal. The pods are packed with nitrogen to keep the coffee fresh, so a near expiration date doesn't matter as much. I've personally used a number of pods past expiration (12 months-ish) and did not notice any change in flavor.

The specs for each product shows the "best by" date. Looks like 8/2025 for most

The last few shipments I had they were at least 9 months from expiration or longer... and were recently made per the date codes on them. I think these are just bulk-ordered or imported directly from Europe...

The common answer is 2030 but I've also seen 2036. Either way, Nestle will likely fight to extend it further.

Same, my most recent Vertuo order from Woot had a 2026 date. YMMV of course.

True. Note that unless there's a clear legal path to manufacture these, the good coffee brands won't make Vertuo pods immediately after the said dates.

Considering this being 5-10 years away, if you're looking for less expensive alternatives, here are my options:

1. L'Or Barista: Supports Nespresso OL pods, for which there's a ton of very good 3p manufacturer support along with Nespresso themselves who make and sell them too. Also, L'Or makes larger sized OL-like pods that are proprietary to L'Or for a larger brew (something that Official Nespresso OL doesn't offer).

2. Refill: If you want to use a Vertuo machine but save cost on pods, you could refill used Aluminum pods with a sticker (there are tools to open, refill, seal them easily). Or there are refillable metal pods, which I haven't personally tried and are usually not as recommended as the sticker method.

3. Buy on Sale: Stock up original Nespresso pods when they're on sale at Amazon and Woot - but usually you're restricted to a single type of pod or a predefined bundle, or if you value the variety, then time your purchase at Nespresso.com when they run free sleeves promo. If you get lucky, you could find some in Facebook Marketplace - I hear there are always people who get confused between OL and VL, and buy something that's incompatible with their machine and are looking to sell them in FB marketplace for less price.

Refilling does not make the same quality of coffee and defeats the purpose of the machine. Just buy a regular espresso machine if you think the pods are too expensive.

buy direct. 1 dollar a pod is not a deal and I rather pick my pods like Costa Rica without any limits.

By the way, you can refill used pods easily yourself using recap foils and the tool. Pick your own coffee,

Does not matter. Refill pods yourself with recap foils and tool.

I have about 80 empty pods and can pick what I want to use.
