To install it get a laptop, disable wifi, plug this thing into the Ethernet port (I connected to port 5), configure your Ethernet port for manual ipv4 instead of DHCP, set ip 192.168.0.2 and mask 255.255.255.0, open a browser and connect to 192.168.0.1 and over http, not https. Its web server takes a minute to be ready after you first turn it on. Username and password are both "admin" by default and it'll demand you set a new password.
From there you can upload the new firmware file you downloaded and unzipped from tp-link and I would recommend restoring factory defaults after doing that, which will make the console password admin again. Do not power it off during these processes, the console reloads on its own.
Finally remember to unplug this, set your ethernet adapter back to DHCP, and turn your wifi on again.
I have owned 6 of these over the years and they all die the same way. They work fine for a few months or even a few years then one day they start overheating and dropping tons of packets on all interfaces with no changes to the device or environment, in a climate-controlled room that never goes above 72 degrees F.

I replaced 3 of them just within the dates of April 17, 2021 and February 15, 2022
I also had similar issues with a TP-Link TL-SG108 8 Port.
I have since swapped out my switches for these two brands/models and have had no issues since.

So lets say it starts to fail (one or more ports stop working). I see my switch used, 5.0 v 2 amp. I have s 5.4 v 4.5 amp power supply I cut and test polarization solder tape. Now I have a bullet proof switch. (My last company retired over 1000 devices with power bricks that were 5.4 v and 4.5 amp. )
Don't do this, it's not worth burning your house down.

All of this seems to indicate it is semi-managed. While not able to be centrally managed by a controller it does have VLAN, QoS and LAG.

It's what I expected, it's definitely not a dumb unmanaged switch. Feels sturdy, all metal, decent weight.
Note the newest firmware is the same 1.0.0 version# but with a build 2 years newer (2023) and updated release number. They don't provide a changelog which is annoying.
Their product page describes this, and I bought a pair and I'm using the web interface right now.
