Had these 10 years ago. At that time they were the best sounding headphones I have ever listened to. They are not at all flat sounding. Fun V shaped audio.

I think you should read the 1 star ratings that bring it to 3.9 stars. After you translate from Japanese you'll find that people didnt receive their order so they one starred. Its not about the product. Look at the ratings for the blue pair. The rating is 4.2 and the reviews give more details. I have a pair. They're good. I wouldnt buy them now because everything made today omits the RCA jack for BT Technology.

I've had a pair of their bigger, wireless brother of the same era, the XB950-N1 for 8 YEARS and they still function flawlessly. I can confirm the XB line of this era of XB headphones have a very fun and it's extremely difficult to find anything else with the same sort of sound nowadays. I have to buy these based on principle.

the hole in the pads on these are so small...I'm not sure they were made for people with ears...might have to burn-in? these joints are muffled

I got these delivered today. The sound quality is pretty good. Better than the Bower & Wilkins Px7 S2 I bought recently from Costco via an SD.

Because the ear cups sit on top of the ears, it gets comfortable after awhile. Whereas the Px7 can fit over my ears, they were more comfortable for a long duration.

But for $20, it's a steal for the sound quality, if you don't need noise cancellation and Bluetooth.

There's no software or batteries why does age matter? There's no Bluetooth chip or anything. If anything the products made 10 years ago are made better than the ones made today.
