If you don't have Mint Mobile yet and looking for a pre-paid carrier, go with US Mobile. Going to sound super shilly here, but I seriously don't understand why people aren't using US Mobile in the MVNO space. I was with Mint for about 3 years after coming off of T-mobile for a few and Verizon for almost 13 years.

Of all the services Mint Mobile had the worst bandwidth by far. I don't know all the intricacies of MVNO data tiering, but Mint Mobile has to be pretty low. I'd do side by side comparisons with T-mobile and Mint (who uses T-Mobile network), and the difference was astronomical. We're talking upwards of 80-90% slower, esp. during peak hours.
I only bothered testing in the first place to confirm my suspicions that Mint Mobile throttled because I'd literally have trouble loading websites when I was out and about.
That brings us to US Mobile. They use both Verizon and AT&T, you choose. Obviously I went w/ verizon because.. well Verizon. US Mobile has done some voodoo magic by actually securing priority data, so easily 10 times faster than Mint in almost every scenario.
You can even interchangeably switch between the two networks. Here's the zinger... alot of carriers say you can do this and that, but US Mobile web and mobile app actually make it EASY to do. Practically everything is self serve in a very clear, and easy to use interface.
If you ever have to chat support, I've never waited longer than 30 seconds to connect, and have always had someone who was polite and solved whatever issue I was having.
So 1. Fastest MVNO 2. Most flexible MVNO 3. Most featureset of any MVNO 4. best App and self-service of any MVNO 5. best customer service of any MVNO... It's also actually the same price if not cheaper than most reputable MVNO (on the annual plan).
I seriously am still trying to figure out what the deal is, for now I'm not complaining and just enjoying the solid service.

I do not see a single deal of any kind for existing customers. I guess Mint is a place you go, get a deal, then leave to another carrier because once you're a customer, there are no more deals for you. Only new people. NOt a way to build customer loyalty. I'm a Mint customer, I got a deal 6 months ago. When my year is up I will leave Mint. Nothing else makes sense.

They have deals for existing customers, often on Pixel phones. Pixel 9 is $359 right now for existing customers, no plan needed. Just go in the app or log in to the website and go to buy a phone, you'll see the current deals.

As far as plans, it depends what you need. The 5GB plan is all I need and their price is good. If you want unlimited, then US Mobile or Visible may make more sense.

If you need a lot of hotspot, Mint's 20GB plan is a good deal for that.

This is tempting. I was with Mint for four years before switching to US Mobile and while US Mobile has been better for the past seven months, the price difference is huge if I grab this deal. The new phone also seems good, but I've never had a Samsung before.

Samsung is great in my opinion. Wife has a Pixel and I like my Samsung better.

100% agree. I buy once per year around Black Friday for $250 for unlimited starter 12 months. US Mobile offers their established customers deals at renewal unlike most companies. 30 GB priority data with 5GB hotspot Plus unlimited talk n text. Much better service / speeds than Mint or StraightTalk

Genuinely curious as I have no experience with Mint, why wouldn't one be able to stick with Mint for 2 years?

Not a huge data user myself and the price seems right. Wondering if I am missing anything else.

In my own experince, Mint's speed heavily depends on physical location. I travel between two cities: For T-Mobile itself, city 1 (small town) is usually good and city 2 (LA) is good speed, while Mint's is good speed for city 1, and crap speed for city 2. This occurs regardless time of the day. I ended up unable to use Mint.

currently on us mobile (vz) coming from Mint for 2 years. my experience in the NYC area, mint=T-Mobile perfectly. if you like T-Mobile, mint is fine. I tried us mobile T-Mobile and it seemed actually slower than mint. however since I needed vz, us mobile is fine.

^^^ THIS. Me and Wife were on US mobile (vz) last year and never had issues. This year we are on yearly plan with Mint. At my house T-mobile network coverage shows average but is actually bad. Add on top dethrottled and slow data, bad and rude CS, and no deals for existing customers. Called Mint to see if I switch out will they prorate my plan, or return some $ but their response was you can stop using Mint and port your nbr out. Needless to say I am dying to get out of Mint to never come back. No amount of deals from Mint will ever make me stay.
