I got this deal when it was last posted. The only thing annoying to me was the mechanism is SUPER noisy. I had to put some oil in it and it's much more usable now.

I just dripped it in around the mechanism that you pull up and down to switch the ratchet direction.

Takes all kinds. The mechanism noise is not remotely close to being on my radar for complaints about a screwdriver. I bought one of these a few months ago. I love this thing.

And yes. Now I feel compelled to drop a little oil into the mechanism

Why would the ratchet volume be an issue on a screwdriver? Are you assembling IKEA furniture in a room with a sleeping bear?

I have several ratcheting screwdrivers and the noise compared to the others made me feel like it must need some lubricant. In my head at least, more noise = more wear on the mechanism. I added some oil and got it to quiet right down, so it did seem to be the case.

It is pretty obnoxious when using it quickly as intended. I have one, I don't really like it.

I have a similar 'double drive' screwdriver like this from Kobalt and the roller-based 'ratchet' mechanism doesn't make any noise at all.
