Yes you can. It's a high end dac/amp.

A few things to note:
1. You will need a USB A Male to female cable to connect it to your pc. The device out is usb A male. Most female A cable ends will fit
2. While it is battery powered, you will want to power it for desktop use. It does not power from the data connection, there is a separate usb C port for that. Whatever you have lying around will work, it's robust enough to take just about any usb C power.
3. It only accepts 6.3mm and 4.4 mm headphone cables, but it does include an adapter so you can use a 3.5mm with the 6.3 jack.
4. It's not going to work with a gaming head*set*. It does not have throughput for a mic. If you use headphones, and a separate mic, this will work. Otherwise it will not fit your needs. Additionaly.... even if you're using hyperx's or something and you use a separate mic... you aren't probably going to see a lot of improvement over motherboard audio with less resolving headphone drivers.

Other thoughts: It probably won't be ideal for consoles either. The 3D plus setting acts like a crossover in hifi or car audio terms... but it's not appropriate for gaming. While it does make the soundstage "wider" it will cause some inaccuracies to imaging.

TU to OP, this is an insane deal on a 10/10 dacamp.

this def. meets the needs for me, esp. at this price. I've tried other portables, amps and with the options this has, it brings all of the headphones, iems to life. This has more power than a lot in the same category, even the more expensive ones. Some cheaper ones might be more convenient with connection types, app/software but not the power to make headphones shine. OG price, not for me but 219, yes.My only issue is probably battery life.

That's really the hook here. This is arguably every bit of a chord mojo tonally, for a fraction of the price, with more power on top of that. It's honestly crazy how slept on this series is, in general.

I think of where we are now vs 10 y ago... you could pair this with a Fiio FT1 or Senn HD6XX and have a ~$350 setup that can do 95% of multi-gigabuck endgame setups. There was nothing like this in reach back then.

(though that is a feature not antiquity, it keeps the power line noise out of the signal chain).... beyond that you're comparing apples and hand grenades.
If your engineer is incompetent enough to let power line noise into the chain, why do you think a battery is going to go any better? Lots of ways to screw that up too,

What headphones would pair well with this?

It's pretty clear you have no idea what you're talking about. The battery also feeds through the same separated power circuitry, but the separated circuit is to keep AC (plugged in while in use... as in for desktop use) out of the signal chain. Plenty of external factors out of an engineer's control, can cause line level power fluctuations at your outlet. Using a different line to charge/ deliver power than you do to send data makes sure you aren't introducing distortion.

These units measure very well so they must be onto something. Oh wait they're just doing what everyone does lol. Any *decent* amp will have a completely separate power and audio circuit with plenty of shielding between them. Keep chirping though I guess, you seem intent upon having a say while saying nothing at all.

While I'm here... do you even have one of these units? It seems like you came in here preloaded with negative opinions based on conjecture because... reasons?

Anything really. I have used it to power:
MDR-Z1R, IER-Z1R, MDR-MV1, MDR-Z7M2, Fiio FT1, DT770,Focal Clear MG, HD600, HD6XX, HE560v1, Sundara, Dunu Falcon Ultra, Moondrop Dusk, Koss KPH40, Dan Clark Noire to name a few... It powers everything I've thrown at it optimally. It does lean a bit warm (because of the multibit dac), but I haven't found anything that pair poorly with it.

Basically whatever you have around should be fine as long as it's an actual headphone or iem. Whether you think that something pairs well with it for you is going to be down to personal preference and probably going to be determined by your basis for comparison. If you are a treble head with a Topping stack at your desk connected to a pair of dt1990 pros at your desk, you may find that you get more coloration than you'd like.

The entire concept of running a battery in the line of power to reduce audible artifacts is a bad joke. It's akin to putting surrounding your boat with dinghies because you don't want it to sink from water leaks. Well, the trick is to just make the boat water tight and to have a sump pump. A battery for anything other than portable power is stupid. A battery in a phone can power a dongle that can do balanced output, so an extra battery is also now stupid. Also, some of these dongles make incredibly clean DACs.

USB-A port for input. Yikes. If they are ignoring such basic USB specs, who knows what else they are doing wrong.
Likely because this is a portable DAC and most phones only have USB connections so a standard data cable works in this scenario A to C, A to Micro, all in all a USB c would have been a better choice

I got the non-signature version - i.e. the "iFi micro iDSD Finale" Does anyone know what the difference is? Should I return it?
