It's definitely cheaper than a 5060 Ti 16GB, but performance wise it's somewhere in between a 5060 8GB to 5060 Ti 16GB. There's a reason AMD cherry picked their benchmarks to compare it against a 5060 Ti 8GB… The value proposition is solid though.

It's not gonna happen because the manufacturers are greedy. They said the initial batch would be $600 because of rebate errors after that it would be listed for something higher.

Agreed. The 8GB card is a scam to rip off the technologically naive. It's a fatally limited card that should not exist and should never be purchased for anything over $150-200 with eyes wide open that even current games may be unplayable at 1080p. Buyer beware!
