I bought the black at 50 this year also. This price is over priced it usually sells for 99.00 but goes on sale about every other month. Hold out and don't get ripped off

I've had this for about 5 years. It shaves closer than my Braun Series 7 and never had to replace the blades. I would say that after 2-3 weeks of daily shaving, hair builds up between the blade fins and I would use a floss toothpick to scrape out the buildup between the blade fins. This happens if you don't clean it often enough. I think the 5 blade head is just too big as it wasn't that effective in shaving the area between your lips and nose. The only part that wore out physically on the shaver body was the black area above the power button. It is some kind of thin rubberish texture. It still struggles for hairs around the neck/jawline just like other shavers as it requires multiple passes. I only stopped using it because the battery was getting weaker and weaker and had to charge 2-3 days. I've never had to get it serviced/repaired, but I hear it may be more cumbersome than Norelco/Braun since it's a mail-in service where you likely have to pay for shipping.
I run it under hot water with and without the foil on after every shave, which cleans it out. Ours came with the charging / cleaning base that we put it in when it gets down to 40% battery. I think I have had this for at least 2 years, and it was $140 or so for the whole package then, and the shaver itself looks different than this one. Wonder if the blades should be replaced?

I was looking at the one posted, and it doesn't seem to have the 3 charging connectors on the back for using in the self cleaning base.

I think Amazon was selling it at a lost. If you check the website right now it's selling for over $150.

I didnt like the arc5 head was too big/bulky.. Arc3 with 14000 motor is my fav.
That thing can't even cut hair lol the arc 3 from 2009 was better. I had it 15 years and that was the best ever. I spent 1k on new electric razors they all are trash on purpose

Amazon doesn't seem to have the silver one anymore, that's the price for a different color. I have an older Arc5 with the base that I like. I picked one up for my teenage son who has yet to shave though he desperately needs to (from Panasonic; used the welcome code to get extra 10%). Hopefully this will motivate him.

not sure why my ARC5 does not cut very clean, comparing to the other $30 Phillips shaver I have,
I do think have the ARC5 battery power > 50% help it cutting better

I would go with ARC 5 any day. Have had both ARC gave me a much clearer cut with lot less irritation.

I don't see the sale price on Amazon.
That dreaded tariff tax must have hit while I was deciding whether to get it or not.
Those tariff taxes are making everything go up in the past couple of months. Can't even buy a decent oil filter under $10 anymore.Mad

I own both the ARC 5 and Braun serious 7.The Arc feels more like a heavy duty than the Braun.

Why so serious?

Seriously, I wonder about the usefulness of these comparisons when manufacturers seem to keep the same high level model designations for years while evolving the designs significantly.

Btw, it's a great shaver, even if a bit more primitive (no lcd screen) compared to the Panasonics I had before. Still Made in Japan, has greater head articulation and a stronger motor.
This does have an LED screen. I find it funny you'd call a shaver primitive because it doesn't have a screen showing the battery percent.

I had the same experience. I had to replace the blades on my Braun every 6 months. I had my Arc4 for 3 years and the blades are still fine.
