This game has horrible reviews, because they cut out half the game and sold it for $70. The game abruptly ends at the modern era, with plans to sell people the rest of the game as DLC, later (there are other problems, but you can look those up). This is the first Civilization game I refuse to support.

Firaxis Games taking a page from EA. I'm sure all the board members stood up and clapped when they presented this to their stakeholders.

Does this upgrade to the switch 2 version?
I think it costs $10 to upgrade, making this the cheapest way to get it right now.

Holy sh*t, I looked that up because I thought there was no way this was real but apparently the game ends abruptly around the 1950s or so and if no win condition was met, a winner is declared based on points and there's no way to continue playing. This is insane. I've played every civilization game since the first one and I'm shocked.

I'll get this game once a "complete edition" comes out in like 5 years, with all 60 DLCs and 7 expansion packs that will surely allow the game to progress into future tech and endless play

lol that is bonkers. Apparently the world ended in 1950 and we all just own the DLC.

Haha. Yep. It's wild that they're selling literally half a game for $70. When I first read that in GameSpot's review, my eyes bugged out. That's something I'd expect from EA, but I never saw something like this happening with a Civ game.

Wow thanks I just picked up a switch2 for the kids and thought I'd get civ7 for the fun of it. I played Civ1-3 religiously and would have been disappointed at what you just said.
Glad I could help. I'm sure a lot of people who bought this without reading reviews were shocked and mad when their game ended much sooner than they expected. I almost bought this the day it came out, without reading any reviews, because I was like, "It's a Civilization game. I'm going to love it." Fortunately, that bit of info was in GameSpot's bullet point summary at the end of their review.

They have conditioned me to wait 3 years until they sell this plus all the DLC for less than this.

Doesnt play well as a port. Has too many options and needs too many hacks to dial it in. Civ rev2 only port done well. Civ 6 on switch is unplayable.

Adding another "Thanks" for preventing me from spending money and supporting this kind of nonsense!

I've bought the last few iterations of this game at release. The reviews on this made this the first one I didn't. I hope they get this game worked out with future updates and DLC. I'll play VI until they do and then buy the complete game down the line during a Steam sale.

Same here. Civ 6 is ok, but I prefer 5 and 4 to a lesser extent. I have no interest in 7 in it's current state.

Played since the original as well. 4 is my absolute favorite, still play it all the time.
All they needed to do to make Civ5 the best ever was turn the square grid into hex, then re-create Alpha Centauri as DLC. Done. Billion dollar game.
