OLED will be the better TV, but since you've got bright light coming in, Mini-LED will be situationally better.

If it were me, I'm getting the OLED and window treatments to deal with the direct light and have the better panel... but that's just me.

What's a higher end sound bar options? Thx
I went with the Visio Elevate from (quite a few) years back...the rotating speakers are kind of a gimmick, but it's lasted a good amount of time now (and sounds amazing). It's got a "wireless" sub & rears as well (you do need a power source available nearby for it, but you don't have to wire it/them directly to the bar). Ran me maybe $800 at the time, looks like the current version is quite a bit cheaper:

My Model: https://a.co/d/4w0Mquz
Current Model: https://a.co/d/h2uaCYp

I'm trying to remember (it's been a while), but I think my main considerations (not an audiophile) were 1.) Atmos/vertical sound, 2.) eARC functionality, and 3.) HDMI pass-through

Either way, it was a great deal at the time and I've been VERY happy with the results
(use case: plenty of gaming, 4k streaming services, 4k/UHD physical movie collection)

Hope this helps!

Oh, interesting! I dunno if there was any real reason aside from dimming zones to wait for the QM8, and any way (like this firmware update) to bring them closer together definitely makes the QM7 very tempting. I think the QM8 might have "better" speakers as well, but we rarely/never use the TV speakers anyway. Thanks for the reply! If you've got time, any other thoughts/comparisons between the two?
I was in a similar position as you. Was actually waiting for an open box QM8 to pop up at one of the Best Buys, but got impatient and didn't want to gamble with potential tariff price hikes. My last tv was a 2020 6 series which would top out at 1kish nits, but usually sit around 800 and never caused any issues with brightness. Also always thought the contrast was great, and never had issues with halos, even with 240 zones (vs 1200+ on the QM7) on the 75". Got to a point where I realized I was spending way too much time comparing two absurd upgrades and just pulled the trigger. Have a sound system so I don't care about built ins, though the speakers are fine for day to day audio. Pretty much all mid tier and above tvs are spec'd out with everything you need in terms of inputs, codecs etc. I think I'm in the minority, but I did prefer the old Roku interface to the current Google TV. Ultimately, they're both great tvs, but the QM7 looks close enough to oled and gets painfully bright enough that any incremental upgrades are unnecessary for me. Again, if you haven't daily driven a tv that gets much above 1k nits, the jump to 1500+ should feel silly bright.

I own this and the LG B2 OLED. I was not expecting the quality to be so close. I would reluctantly admit that some things the QM7 does better. It is noticeably brighter. Someone else mentioned they had to turn the brightness down on theirs. I 100% agree. the max brightness is absurdly bright.

The B2 blacks are better and contrast is better, but not by much. The OS on the LG is snappier, but i prefer the Google OS on the QM7. More app options. Viewing angle on the QM7 is better than expected, but can't touch an OLED. I can watch the B2 from my kitchen about 178 degrees off and i can still read the score of the game haha.

If i had to do it all over again, I would probably get the 75" QM7 and not the 65" LG B2. Now the B2 is a little older, but still. I would not hesitate to buy another TCL. I was blown away.

I have multiple QM7s (65" and 55") and like many have been waiting for QM8s to come closer in price but ended up pulling the trigger. The TVs are phenomenal, they are both in extremely bright rooms with many windows and the brightness level and clarity that they achieve, even with direct sunlight, is very impressive. If you are waiting for the QM8, given the quality of the QM7, I would say pull the trigger and you will be impressed. I noticed that when the TVs are on, they are not reflective, meaning you get a full view of whatever you are watching without interference which was a great surprise.

That all makes a ton of sense. I'm coming out of a 2019 75" 6-series, and have been waiting on an open box 85" QM8 for a while now. Funny enough, one JUST cropped up so I jumped on it...got it waiting for me at BB right now Smilie

Ended up costing me $1,270.11 out-the-door, which is around a $600 savings over the current sale price ($1699 + tax) for a new one. Putting some of it towards (finally) getting the silly thing onto the wall, and freeing up the top of the entertainment center.

I'm sure there'll be something stellar released this fall, but there's no way it'll be in that ballpark price-wise.
Oh, and I actually kinda agree about Roku! We lived through that Winter where Google "learned" how a Streaming OS works, and they (eventually) sussed it out...but I do recall fondly our days with Roku Smilie

Thanks again for the response(s), nice to chat w/ someone who's been on a similar path!

What do we think of best buys 5 year warranty for $159 vs Amazon's Asurion 3 year warranty for $69? Anyone here had to make a claim with either?
They want to charge me $400 for the QM8 85 in. Is that how much it cost in Bestbuy for 5 years?

Probably best to look online, the price is calculated on the product listing page

Lived with a QM7 for a week and returned it. The picture quality sucked compared to the non Qled Samsung mu8500 it replaced. With sdr media it was mediocre at Best with blurred faces and grainy overall images. It just didn't upscale right. Did all kinds of calibration nothing worked well enough. Hdr content at times looked OK but you'd have very bright highlights and the rest of the image still off. I replaced the qm7 with a Samsung Q80C. It's just so much more refined and the picture quality if great. It's not a miniled and I don't care it's very bright anyway. The newer model, the Q80D is even better and I've seen it on sale. I got my 65" Q80c for $748 at Walmart. Never again will I buy a Chinese tv.

I'm pretty sure most Samsung TVs are assembled in China
