Follow the link and add it to your cart. Attachment Options: w/ Additional (2) 6 Ah Battery and Charger Set, ignore the 5ah option

Doesn't the new M12 Gen 2 Stubby make this one obsolete? It's much smaller and lighter and is only short 100 lb/ft? Might as well get the Gen 2 stubby and get the M18 hi-torque with the ugga-duggas for the rusty suspension bits than get this one.

It makes the M18 Gen3 Compact obselete. Theres still a place for folks who don't want to get into the M12 lineup/get HO 5.0 batteries

The Compact M18 with only 250 ft-lbs? Yes.
This? Not necessarily, especially in terms of overall runtime. But the new M12 with 550 ft-lbs and the M18 high-torque (1500+ ft-lbs) seem like an ideal pairing yes.
  • M18 batteries have more (storage) capacity, so if you're using it a lot, one battery will last longer before the power starts to wane. 12V*5AH HO = 60Wh vs 18V*6 = 108Wh
  • M18 should be somewhat more effective on stubborn lugs, especially as the battery charge starts to wane.
I'm surprised they didn't release an M18 version of the 550 ft-lb stubby but it's surely coming sooner or later.

I would disagree. If you have M18 only the M12 is useless unless you want to buy new batteries. In my experience the M18 is a much better setup. I only use M12 for my 3/8" ratchets. For anyone getting this, the military discount brings it down to $251. Most of us who need 1/2" drive are in a spot where we can deal w/ the little bit more depth. I think we can deal w/ the heft for a few seconds also.

I got this same deal for $299 in store, but it was a buy one get one and "hackable" so I was able to return the batteries and charge and my final cost for the 1/2 fuel m18 impact driver was $133. I just used it to replace leaf springs and axle on my trailer. Makes removing big nuts easy.

Came up at $299 for me.
And somehow, $20 more was enough to stop me from buying it.
I already have the high torque and a stubby m12 that does most work just fine.
Still, a couple extra 6ah batteries and a midtorque would have been nice.
