I'm mostly only into still photography, but are these only really good for things like YouTube streams and maybe unique partial/artistic scene lighting where you depend on much larger lights to do actual lighting?

the video in the description shows them using it for still photography. I'm not sure if I want something (especially multiple) that I have to manually set on each device. Maybe for the price point I shouldn't expect app integration but it doesn't seem unreasonable imo.

Looks like this sale on the model # ending with "61" is to clear out stock to focus attention on the app-enabled successor with the model number ending in "62"

I don't know about videography, but for still photography, it's not good at all.

It does have one photography use case: light painting. For $13, this provides some fun features (including a slow-fade color change). Looks like it's designed to be modular also. I'd be buying a few of these, if the coupon code allowed it.

Why do you say that? I am looking for something smaller to replace the plug in and large and clunky fluorescent photography lights I use now for Ebay.

I was going to say, these could be good for close up photography. Or even fill lighting for portraits etc. A light is a light…

Sounds like you aren't much of a photographer. These would work fine for lighting small products, flowers, back and edge lighting other objects etc. All sorts of things in a controlled studio environment especially when placed on a stand. Would it be my preferred? No, I've already got lots of other ways, but at this price it's a no brainer for playing around/multi-use.

I ordered them and will report back. I have these tall can style three leg lights with fragile fluorescent twist tube bulbs and they are tippy as hell and awkward as hell to store away.

That was my thought as well and I ordered without waiting for a response. I have learned to take all small talk with grain of salt and it is best often to use your own mind and common sense.

looks like it works for me! it's added as a promotional balance instead of a coupon.
