Recent reports indicate that some mini PCs, including those from brands like AceMagic, Kamrui, and others under the same manufacturer, were shipped with pre-installed spyware. This malware, identified as Backdoor:Win32/Bladabindi and Trojan:MSIL/RedLine!MSR, was found to be hidden in the Windows folder and even within the system's recovery partition, making it difficult to remove. These types of malware are known for their data-stealing capabilities.
The manufacturer, Shenzhen Shanminheng Technology Co., Ltd., acknowledged the issue and claimed it was limited to the initial batch of units and that they have since fixed the problem. However, reports suggest that this issue may have affected a wider range of mini PCs, including those sold through programs like Amazon Vine.
It's important to be cautious when purchasing mini PCs from lesser-known brands or directly from overseas manufacturers. Consider purchasing from established brands and retailers that have greater accountability for product quality and security.
If you have purchased a Kamrui or similar mini PC, it is recommended to:
Scan your device with a reputable antivirus and anti-malware program.
Consider reinstalling a fresh, clean copy of the operating system.
Be cautious about using the device for sensitive activities or storing personal data.
Obligatory no, it can not modern game. Just buy an XBOX/PlayStation. But solid deal on a home theater PC that can do retro gaming. Consider investing in a gyro remote if you go down that path.
Yes, it can run Microsoft Office and send e-mail. But if you're reading this, you probably already have a device that can do that.
Just got one of these last week. Replaced a over 10 year old laptop, love how small it is. From all the reviews I've been reading on these I went ahead and just did a clean install of Windows on it just to be safe.

Runs Roblox without any issues

So does N100, but there are multiple reports on people using 32GB sticks in it and working fine.

This uses ddr4. The N series is a single channel memory design. So the DDR5 versions perform better.

I got a similar mini pc on amazon (not this brand) and it came with secure boot disabled. May want to check the other security settings too, just in case.

Interesting. I thought the memory limitations posted by Intel/AMD were generally accurate. Intel does claim that both the N100 and N150 can only use 16GB RAM.

Yet as you say, many people have been able to run 32GB and even 48GB of RAM on these CPUs.

I wonder if the memory limits on higher end Intel and AMD CPUs are real or not; maybe it's just that they haven't bothered to test and certify their CPUs with more RAM.

Best bang for your buck is this Crucial kit:

Single 32GB stick for $50.

48GB DDR4 does not exist.

Why in gods name would you think that you can play modern games on a nuc…really?

I was just going to ask this? How do these do with plex? Would love to shut down my larger server to save energy and just use this for local streaming only.

I mean this is fine as is at this cost, but adding 32GB or 48GB RAM thinking you have the next alternative to quantum computers may be a bit too optimistic. Anything beyond 16GB is going to show marginal (if any) improvement in performance given this N150 and this platform. This is fine for what it is- stop playing pimp my ride with it.
