I'm assuming that this individual is talking about how one company makes a product and then a bunch of other companies resell the same product white labeled. Meaning that they are taking the brand of themselves and putting it on the product that is made cheap by another company. Much of the stuff on Amazon is white label products.
I have one of these knock offs from Amazon. It works but the audio is low and the machine has a very loud fan noise which is common with these cheaper units. Picture is OK. Might be nice for a movie night in the backyard. You should be able to find a cheaper price for a similar item on Amazon or eBay.

I bought a random knock off "Vizony" (lol yes that's really the name.) a couple of months ago and it's been great so far! Really solid picture and amazing sound. Purchased a chromecast to go with it and this was significantly better than the onboard smart apps on the device.
